Letting my SubConcience mind know that my Concience mind knows I am dreaming.

So I have noticed in my lucids. That whenever I do something too much that lets my mind know that I know I am dreaming then I wake up. Examples: One night I was having a lucid and I looked in the mirror, and I kept looking back in the mirror to see different faces and that was when I woke up. Last night I was having a different lucid and I looked at a clock, and each time I would look at it again it would be a different time and that is when I woke up. That dream was the longest lucid I have ever had and it felt like if I hadn't of looked at that clock it would have gone on for a while longer.

I'm wondering if anyone has noticed this same thing, and if not maybe someone could do an experiment and post their results on this thread.

I think I know what you mean. I've had several times where I started questioning my dream and so it ended as soon as lucidity was achieved. On one occasion the dream ended and became all black, I remained still and soon found myself entering a new dream scene where I was in a dinning table with some strangers. I went along with what was happening as if I didn't know what was going on but I was completely aware, I then notice that a girl sitting next to me seemed to find it strange that I was there so I lean over to her and whisper "it's okay, I know I'm dreaming". The soon immediately ended as I finished saying that. I like to think that its some sort of mechanism to prevent me from being aware.

I think my subconscious is a better watchmen than yours. Most of the time when I notice something is weird, before I even think about doing an RC or whatever, my subconscious already does the mindpolice and either gives me a false or a real awakening.

For example: I had a dream that I was in the USA shopping in a mall. I suddenly met my best friend, which I thought was a bit odd. Then I realized that he wears a shirt I own but I know he doesn't. And as soon as I sense something is up I'm thrown out of the dream.

I guess it's a stupid natural "ability" of our brain. Just like how it actively tries to let us not remember our dreams (At least I read something like that somewhere.). Everyone has this though. That is exactly what you practice when learning to lucid dream: You try to overcome these exact things. And the more you try and practice the better you get in stabilizing the lucid dream. It's nothing unusual.

Hmm I guess I haven't experienced that exactly but I have definitely had experiences with my subconscious not wanting to cooperate when I make it known that I'm lucid and trying to communicate my subconscious.

Like, I've tried speaking directly to my SC before, tried to ask it questions. It gives me bullshit answers or makes it to where I can't hear the answers fully. =|
And I had this one freaky experience where I told a character I was dreaming and she got PISSED. It was like she was a demon or something. Her eyes went all black and she gave off this very menacing vibe and I felt like she wanted to kill me. Then I very abruptly lost awareness of being in a dream.

I didn't think it was unusual. It was just something I noticed. It happened twice for me. It was weird on the second one because the dream went on for a while. It is written down in my dream journal if anyone wants to read it. Naked people, peacocks, and magic tricks. - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

I don't wake up but I'll get a false awakening every damned time. You do a reality check as soon as you wake up right?

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

I do not. I don't really ever get false awakenings so I never really thought about it. I have had maybe 2 or 3 in my whole life and I am 21 so its really not a common occurrence for me.
