      Obscure and Frequently Recurring Dream

I have been having the same dream for the past two months; not quite nightly, but at least 3 times per week. What's confusing me about this dream, more than anything else, is that I gradually get further and further into the dream. In other words, every so often the dream advances further than it had been previously. I decided to post this under the category of lucid dreaming because I have been having this dream so frequently that it has gotten to the point that I know immediately that I am dreaming. Anyway, here it is:

The dream starts with me walking up my stairs; I can hear music, but cannot quite make out what it is. The first room upon reaching the top of my stairs is my father's office. In real life, it is normal wooden door, no lock. But in the dream, I try to open the door, but find that it is, in fact, solid metal with no handle on the outside of the door. The next room down the hallway is the bathroom that I and my sister share in real life. However, in the dream, this room isn't there. It's just wall. The next room is my room. I open the door to my room, and it is empty of furniture and anything else; but it is COVERED in blood. It looks as if someone actually took a roller and painted blood on the walls, meaning it is extremely neat looking. However, I just know that it is blood. I can tell. The next room is my sister's room. In the dream, there is no door. I look inside and what I see is almost impossible to describe. This is the best I can do: First, the room is much larger than it actually is, and it is FILLED with sheets of metal. The best way I can describe the metal is plywood-type pieces of metal. They are extremely sloppily piled up on the floor, leaned against the walls, and there are even pieces hanging from the ceiling. I need to stress that the room is MUCH bigger in my dream than in real life...it is almost warehouse-looking. The final room is my parent's room. Here the music gets MUCH louder. Only today did I realize that the song that I am hearing is Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit", but there is only the music and Grace Slick is not quite humming the lyrics, but rather singing them in gibberish. It is tough to explain but it's as if she isn't saying anything, but the words she's singing are similar in sound to the actual lyrics, but not the actual lyrics. Upon entering my parent's room, there is a bald man, his back to me, sitting indian style, with his arms hanging straight by his sides, his hands facing backwards with his palms upturned, so that his fingers are closest to me with the top of his hands resting on the ground. He is wearing nothing but underwear. This point is where the dream ended for the longest time. The next advancement was that I walked to the side of him, still not far enough to see his face, but far enough to see that his had my very first boom box on the floor in front of him. It is safe to assume that this is where the music is coming from. The next and most recent advancement is that I see his face. I circle him and see that he has a chubby and very odd looking face, his nose is bleeding, and there is blood dripping from his ears. His mouth is open and moving, as if trying to communicate with me, but that is the farthest I have gotten. I have no idea who the man is by the way.

Although the dream is somewhat disturbing, I am more curious as to what it means. It has to mean something for me to have it as frequently as I do. No one I know is involved in it, but it is very ominous. If anyone has any insight, I would appreciate it. I'm an english major, so interpretation interests me. I am completely baffled at this dream however. I have no idea what it means.

That is an interesting dream. I have no idea what it means, but if you are interested in lucid dreaming reoccurring dreams are a blessing. You just learn the techniques to have lucid dreams. Next, before you go to bed at night you state to yourself that when this dream happens again you will become lucid. Then you can become lucid in the dream and talk to that bald man and ask him what the dream is all about.

Hmmm... Do you know the lyrics to this song by any chance? It would make sense if you didn't and simply knew the melody. Your brain can't come up with them, so it projects the humming sounds.

      ^ extremely creepy...

It sucks that the guy can't communicate with you. Otherwise I would suggest asking him what is going on. May be try imagining that he can talk. Or ask him to write? Also since you achieved lucidity - try walking out of the house instead of going upstairs next time. Ask any dream character you meet about what is going on. I'm not very experienced with this.... may be others can be more helpful.

I do know the lyrics to the song. Not to the point that I could type them all out obviously, but I could sing along to it for the most part. I think I misunderstood the meaning of lucid dreaming. I found this forum and did a quick google search of the term...I initially thought that it simply meant you are aware that you are dreaming. But the idea behind it is that you can actually control what you do in the dream?

I'm new to this myself, but from what I gathered lucid dreaming is being aware. If you simply are aware that you are dreaming and go along with the story in your dream you are lucid dreaming. Most people take it to the next level though and try to do different things in their dreams.

I had a few lucid dreaming experiences. Most of them so short that I don't consider them as 100% legit. But even as short as they were I found them extremely satisfying. I would recommend you have fun with your dream and see if you can change the outcome.
