Well, think of it like this:
lucid dreams can be just as vivid as waking life, with all your senses very much active.
You can see far into the distance, you can hear sounds, you can eat dream food and feel the tastes, and you can feel just as "alive" as you feel right now.
In fact, lucid dreams can be so realistic that you might actually find yourself getting dragged down by gravity when you try to fly, just because you are so used to gravity and expect it to be there in dreams as well.
Think about this for a moment - a vivid lucid dream feels exactly as "real" as waking life itself, and you are always aware that you are actually dreaming.
You have the right to do absolutely anything you want without any consequences, you can grab an attractive dream character and make out with her/him, you can steal someone's car just for kicks, you can jump into the air and fly, and view the surroundings below you.
One way to think of lucid dreams is that it's like being awake, but feeling very fascinated by every single thing you see.
Even a house is fascinating, because in dreams you have no idea what you might find inside them.
This excitement lasts through the entire dream, and you will most likely wake up feeling fantastic and empowered.
In waking life we are very used to almost everything we see, so we usually have this mindset "oh, cool, a house and a couple trees, whatever", and this makes us pay very little attention to things in general.
But try to pretend for a moment that you are in a dream right now, and imagine what that would be like if it were a dream.
Pretty cool imagination, huh?
