      Question Remembering LDs when lucid

Hello. I used to visit this forum until about 2 years ago, when my long dry spell started (despite my great motivation at the time). Now I don't pay much attention to dreams, but I started to have LDs time to time again and I am happy about this. They are usually short and "low-energy", but I am going to start working on it.

I want to tell you what happened to me several times recently. I became lucid in a dream (most often after a nose-plug RC). After I experienced the usual "shift" I suddenly realized: Hey, I have already have an LD like this and it is not such a long time ago! I didn't remember that the circumstances were the same, but the overall impression was similar to the memory and I was sure that I hadn't recalled that dream after waking. Once I even lost the actual dream surroundings because of thinking about the previous forgotten dream. Now I can remember a few dreams in which I had an intense lucid feeling with an impression that I had forgotten many LDs I had had before. From the complicated direct memory (remembering a dream in which I remembered a dream) I think that the previous dreams were only a short lucid fragments (and I lost lucidity rather than wake up).

Do you think that I had had a real LD during some night before, but I didn't recall it after waking up? Or do you think that I fabricated the previous dream in the dream I became lucid for real? (like a fake Deja-vu) Do you have experiences with similar feelings?

Well I often remember LDs better during LDs, but I also can create fake memories. Only you can tell the difference, and if you remember it as well as a lucid, does it matter?

Honestly, there is no way to know whether you were recalling a lucid dream that actually did happen or if you were subconsciously fabricating false memories. It could have even just been experiencing the feeling of deja vu. There's just no way to be sure of what it is. I experience these things in my dreams occasionally and it's still difficult for me to tell what is what.

Same things happened to me before, like 20 minutes after I woke up I remember being in an airport and thinking that I was dreaming. I'm still not sure whether it was actually a lucid.
