      Factors affecting lucid dreaming

After several years of practice I've noticed a couple factors that affect my success with lucid dreaming. Perhaps this will help others:

      1) If work has my mind absorbed with a lot of job pressures I do not LD. Only once I achieve my deadlines and can relax do I LD.

      2) If I have been more physical than my seditary job sitting at a desk all day, I am more likely to LD. This is because I then stay in bed longer in the morning and rather than waking right up I keep drifting back off to sleep which keeps me in REM.

Both are also tied somehow to "intent". To intend to LD, I have to be relaxed without pressure occupying my mind, and tired enough to not keep thinking about my intent so that it becomes me trying to "will" it to occur, which is counter-productive.

Currently I also can only LD when I don't work the next day (with one ever exception), and like you if I get up every day
at like 6 I lucid dream only at just after 6 on the weekend, if I got up all week at 5 instead then I LD just after 5.

However I am great at detecting dream exit, I use Melatonin and my (mind's) eye flashes like mad when I exit a dream
I am able to detect nearly 90% of the time, but I have never succeeded in DEILD (or WILD), but once I learn I should
be able to do it quite often (If I ever learn). Usually I am lying there thinking, I'm falling asleep, my dream already gone
from my mind, then I realize I'm actually falling awake, eyes a flashing, I try to hold still, but full paralysis never sets in
I swallow or some such and then give up, next I recall my dream and journal it. Then pop another 10 or 15mg of Melatonin
and try to get back to sleep. (I wouldn't recommend it for females tho) I never get headaches (ever, not since 1990 or so)
and I don't have Melatonin hang over either. But realize that at this dose (30-75mg per night) your sleep will be disrupted
and you will get insomnia. Of course I want the disrupted sleep, how else can I hope to learn to DEILD, I wake after
      every dream.

I have only been using the Melatonin for about 1.5 months, but I LD about 1.5 times per weekend.
(I also have been adding things like 5HTP early in the evening long before sleep, and recently 25-75mg of DHEA)
My Melatonin is usually 10Mg half fast acting / half slow release, and another 5Mg fast acting.

Tonight I don't think I'm going to bother with Melatonin until about 2:30-3:00am then take this 15Mg dose per
attempt cycles 3 and 4, I don't expect success tho because it is Tuesday morning, see if I still wake without it
after every cycle and if I have and easier time falling asleep for cycle 3 at least.

The other night I fell asleep right away every time, I think the DHEA might have been helping. If I LD during
the week or manage a DEILD it will be a miracle tho (I also take a fair bit of B-6 both in the Melatonin and
      also additionally 100 or 200mg)

Miracles happen I followed my plan for only the Melatonin and managed to trigger on nothing in particular
"why am I on this stair case and who are these people?" TRIGGER

didn't fully bother with stabilization tho, I held up my hand and instead of just look at it I used it Skyrim style
and just held it up looking at the world past it.

Only lasted about a minute tho, then I forgot the whole thing and remembered it while recalling a subsequent dream

had slept 3 hrs then stayed awake about 3 hrs then took the 15Mg Melatonin then woke and took 15Mg more not sure
when the lucid dream was fell back asleep 3 more times finally waking at exactly 5:55 from a dream I should have triggered
on I think I'm going to unplug my alarm clock who needs one

I think all that DHEA must still be in my system tho (the dreams were a bit weird)
