      Staying up late affecting dreaming?

I find when I stay up late my dreaming is nearly impossible to remember. So do you think I should get to sleep earlier? Like 12 or a bit earlier? Would this help my dreaming?

I stay up pretty late, normally... I think what is important is getting the right amount of sleep. By that I mean, getting the same amount of sleep you would be getting were you to go to bed at a reasonable hour. Hope this helps!

Light, sound, and temperature might be a factor when your sleep extends into the morning. I keep a late schedule but I wear a sleep mask and earplugs to sleep. And I programmed my heating/cooling thermostat to maintain the temperature.

i have also noticed the later i stay up, sometimes the harder it is for me to recall my dreams, id recommend trying to get to sleep by 12 or earlier.

I totaly agree with this. I think i'ts a bit of selfhypnosis (can't find the word but you know what i mean ) though, and i'm starting to get rid of this idea, allthough i have to admit, going to sleep late being all tired really impacts my recall. I'm trying to fix my sleep cycle and start going to bed at 11:00 not around 1 or 2am
Failing atm, since it's 2am, damn it.

Here's a little trick I learned while looking around this site. If you go to bed like 3 hours earlier than you usually would you wake up multiple times during the night. Say if you go to bed around 11:00PM most of the time, then you went to bed at 8:00PM, you'd wake up multiple times a night. This helps remember your dreams. It might take you an hour to fall asleep but it helps out tremendously dream recall wise, also helps out with DEILD's also.

Oh, wow warbenefit that's a great suggestion. I will try that next time I can get to sleep early.

I say late sleep definitely impacts dreaming and recall. I have been going really late due to homework, and I have zero recall right now. However, when I used to sleep at reasonable hours, I would have good recall and maybe evenn lucid dreams.

I recently focused more onto recall after going to bed too late and found out, that i can still recall A LOT and it's mostly (read again MOSTLY) autosuggestion that you will fail at recalling. But that being said, i was still able to sleep for 12 hours, so basicly if you have to wake up early, going to bed early is a must of course. Even if you can sleep late, it's still better to go to bed before midnight. I just wanted to say, that recall is still possible
