      Moderating dreams without controlling them?

Best dreams I've ever had were completely random and creative. When I am lucid I am just aware and controlling it, sort of like when I'm awake. What if I don't want to control everything? I just want to be aware and make sure the dream is really nice, but if I am lucid I get bored.

Keep in mind I've been lucid dreaming for long time, look at my join date that's when I started trying. Honestly, I prefer having those wild dreams so I allow myself to sleep normally without attaining lucidity, but they only appear 0.1% of the time. I wish I could have imaginative, "random" dreams while also being lucid to experience it all more vividly. The best part about lucidity is the control and awareness, but bringing your consciousness into your dreams can inhibit the imaginative side of you.

I hope I'm not misunderstanding you. You want to have your dreams be more random and wild but to still be lucid, right?

Maybe this problem can be fixed by altering how you see the dream. What I mean by this is that you could see the dream as being another magical world that you can explore, rather than something that you have absolute control of. I'm not sure if this would be helpful to you though, since I have never really experienced your problem. Maybe some more veteran dreamers like Sageous or Sivason could relate better and be able to give you some nice advice

I hope your dreaming adventures become more random and fantastic again soon!

To build on AnotherDreamer's advice above:
If your dream control is strong, why not make a portal or magic door into an unknown land, with unexpected physics/characters/senses to explore?
I generally find my dream control works better when I have a specific idea in mind, but I also enjoy letting the dream present something random from time to time.

I know what you're saying. I've become lucid on numerous occasions: Twice I said to people I saw in dreams that I realized I was dreaming. I actually talked to Kurt Cobain this way (he was not dead in-dream) because when I first saw him in-dream he didn't respond and then I said I realized I was dreaming, to which he talked to me and I asked him something "... If it's OK with you."

On other occasions I've somewhat become lucid. I've noticed that conscious habits have carried over to dreams as I declined someone's proposition in-dream.
