This has already been discussed in many many many threads. Consensus...yes...it can be hard to get people to believe you or listen to you when you are talking about lucid dreaming.

Yeah, whenever I mention LD, my peers either go "Huh?", "OMG...What a nerd..." or "Whatever..."...I've only been able to convince like 6 other people that I know of about LDing...

I've actually been successful when explaining it to people. Nobody's outright thought I was crazy or anything. I even got my boyfriend to join here. We're going to start working on dream recall first and go from there. I find I get really passionate and excited when I talk about it (I can't help it), so maybe that has something to do with it.

When most people ask what i'm doing on this site I ask them "Have you ever had a dream and known you were dreaming?". So far almost all of them have said yes!

Seems like most people have had a random occurence of LDing at some point in time...

It seems no one ever really "Gets it" when I try to explain it to them. A few do. My mom saw me reading LaBerge's work and she was interested. She told me that she hasn't dreamed in ages and the only one she can really remember is a recurring dream about her teeth falling out. I told her that that was actually a really common dream. And when I told her that everyone dreams every night, many people just don't remember them, and went further to say that she probably doesn't remember many of her dreams because she's so bogged down with the "importance of reality" (as most adult, working people are) she was like O.o?!!
But it usually takes a long bit of conversation for someone who's never heard of lucid dreaming to understand it when I try to speak to them about it. My most common reaction is somewhere along the lines of " .....Ok......so anyway...." lol

Actually that is so much so that even my DC's do it. (Which I think is common also) It isn't uncommon for me to suddenly jump up in the middle of a dream and go "Hey Everyone, I'm Lucid!!!" and all of my Dream Characters will just kinda look around like "Ohhhkay....who let the crazy person out?" Rofl.

-Same here. I told my brother. He said it was impossible. I told him I had one. He said I didn't. I told him there are entire Web sites and scientific works dedicated to this. He said I'm a stupid baby or something along those lines. lol. but this convo actually helped me get my second LD when I went to sleep that day. It was three months since the last one so lol.

-I told my friend today. He said something like, "So you knew you were dreaming....Woohoo....Who cares?"

-I told my friend who is a very smart girl and I thought that she of all people would believe me. I mean her GPA is 4.2 or something. So I told her and she just laughed and made one of those faces.

Everyone who I've told about lucid dreaming has believed me, though about only half try to do it. Despite that, most people who I've told have had at least one since I've told them, even those who were not trying to get one. They just "happened".

I did have one friend who I was talking to on IM, where the conversation went like this:

Me: "Hey, you heard about lucid dreaming?"
Him: "That's drugs... Won't catch me doing that shit"

      Well guys

In my country as there is no education for things like this. And most of the people think that this is crazy talk.

But fortunately in my family all people (except my father) know about lucid dreams.

My cuz, my uncle (mom side) are very fond of learning things like that.

So I have not much problem But my friends never believe on this. When I tell them about lucid dreams they say you are mad. This is impossible .

I always get "The Look" as if I've gone completely nuts when I tell my friends about it. The only people who haven't done this is my brother who says he's had a few LD's and my doctor who just thought it was really interesting.

      dreamscape

      wow, what a facinating topic.

      HERE IS WHAT YOU DO

Buy,rent, or steal a copy of this film

      "DREAMSCAPE"

Watch it with your friends, just tell them it's based on real scientific research, which is true, there is many dream labs, and dream research done.

THEN ASK THEM ABOUT THEIR DREAMS

THEN BRING UP THE TOPIC OF THEIR DREAMS CONTINUALLY AND REFERENCE THE FILM.

      **** JOB SORTED ****

They will pay atttention to ****THEIR*** dreams first, and then you.

      MAKE IT PERSONAL.

      Simple really !!!!!!!!!!!

      Just Do it.
Imagination is more important than knowledge.

I'm sure that would do it. But how common is this 'Dreamscape' movie?
Would I be able to find it in NZ? I'll have a search on the interenet and see if I can find anyone who has it...
