      Question I'm really flipping' dumb

My recent poll showed that most people find WBTB/WILD/FILD the most effective techniques. These all require waking up in the middle of the night and thats okay with me. So I did some in-depth research into FILD since that seems nice and simple with good success rates. Now, last night and the night before I woke up at 3am (I go to sleep at 10pm and get up at 7-8am) and when I woke up I thought to myself 'ooh, looks like this is a good time to lucid dream' then went back to sleep without even trying any techniques. So, thats how I failed over the last 2 nights. I know why I didn't think properly though. Prepare for some interesting science. When you are in REM sleep, your prefrontal cortex (the part of you brain that has all your logic) is deactivated mostly, this is why your dreams seem so unrealistic and random, so when I got woke up by my alarm at 3 in the morning, my prefrontal cortex wasn't active much at all. Thats why I didn't think properly and didn't try any techniques, because I literally didn't have access to logic. So my question is, does anyone know how to stimulate your prefrontal cortex without thinking logically and in a short period of time. Thanks!

EDIT: This is ironic, when writing the title I wrote 'I'm really flipping' dumb' but put an apostrophe after the word flipping instead of replacing the 'g' at the end of flipping with an apostrophe. Sorry for being a grammar nazi.

You need to find the right amount of waking and dreaming. stand up go to the toilet. maybe put some water in you face. maybe sit around for 5min and think about your dreams or your goals or do some visualization. when attempting a wild and you fall to fast asleep try to do it on your back or in a slightly less comfortable position. you need to know yourself and know how you feel and how your body reacts. its all depending how fast and deep you sleep.

You're not dumb. We've all done it!
That's actually what makes WILD quite tricky. The two states, wake and sleep, are normally quite binary, and we are trying to stop between the two.
It's just a trick we have to learn, and there's no simple surefire way.
