      DC advice, trustworthy?

      Hello everyone,

Last night I managed to personify mi "higher self" for the first time (I had tried before), this is how it went:

Dream: I wake up, look at my hands and they are full of bruises, I try to pass my finger through my palm and fail to do so. I start thinking that maybe I hit my hands while sleeping, I look around and see two beds (I only have one) and both of them are made... hmmm I think, something is not right here. I look back at my hands and now I have like biker gloves, I take them off and decide to do the RC again... this time it works! Im lucid! I ask to meet my higher self as a character, I go downstairs and out the window to a patio with a spiral stairway. In the stairway there is this small redhead man, with spiky hair and thick eye brows. I ask him "who are you?" and he replies "your higher self dude", he then hands me a present packed in a white envelope, I thank him. He then tells me 'you need to step away from people that are stopping you from growing' and specifically mentions a very close friend of mine. *This guy has been my friend for a long time and we share lots of things so this came as a surprise to me*. I said 'Really?' and he then started explaining why this had to be done. *I woke up as soon as he started explaining*

This was pretty shocking to me, this friend is quite open-minded and I consider him to be a good soul. I won't follow this advice for now but I definitely will investigate further into it to understand more.

My question is, has anyone found a similar situation where a DC gave advice that you don't agree with?
Have you followed advice from a DC, if so, what happened?

      Thanks!

I have never experienced something like this, but my thoughts are you could try doing this in your next lucid dream and see if you get the same answer. Try not to believe the answer will be the same, as this might throw you off.

Honestly, I'd generally not trust anything given to you in dreams. You really have no way of indicating whether you're talking to the right part of your subconscious. Heck, that guy could have been simply a thought you had earlier in the day, or that could have been the negative part of your subconscious telling you to abandon your friend. And even if you do find a way to make sure that it is definitely your higher self, well you better have the time to ask everything in that dream because it probably won't be the same for the next. This is the logical answer for me, but this is one of the main reasons I want to try lucid dreaming, to learn more about myself (and find a way to submit my subconscious under my complete control huehuehue domination).

I think you should try to summon your higher self in another lucid dream. You're going to have to look for more signs of them being the real higher self, though I don't know how I can help you with that. I'm not sure if the higher self is just another word for dream guide, but if it is you could try depriving them of attention and seeing if they disappear from the space they occupied (for example, summon them then distract yourself by doing something else or going far away, then look back at the spot and see if they still exist, but even so like with my point in the paragraph above you really can't know if you successfully distracted yourself well enough, etc.).

These are just my thoughts on this :3

      Thanks Llama,

I will definitely research more into this. I did think the same as you, how do I know which part of my subconscious was I talking to? He looked a lot more 'alive' than most DCs but this doesn't tell me much. Btw, if you want to lucid dream to control your subconscious you will be very disappointed... sure we can interact and influence it but you'll soon find out that it is infinitely more powerful and creative than your conscious self . Still practice though, LD is the coolest thing ever

you didnt open the envelope did you? to bad....
i find this dream very interesting. i wouldt start a war because of such an experience but i would keep it in the back of my mind.

DC´s can be very multifarious some are stupid some are smart some talk a lot some say they will help you and you run the whole dream down a labyrinth. but some might actually be helpful.
expectation is again a big influence. when you tread them like "dumb DC´s" you will experience exctly this. but when you approach them in a neutral way and consider them to be informative some might be.

since you seem interested in those thing:
consider to try next time not to adress a DC but the dream itself: look into the sky or the horizon, ignore the dc´s and the dreamplot around you and ask/shout [out loud not just "thinking"] your question or request.
and evaluate the question you want to ask in waking. the formulation is essential. for example it makes a difference to ask for "experience" or "to get shown" something. or when you say you search for something the dream will give you what you ask for you will _search_ the whole dream for something but when you want to find something you will find something etc.

when you ask the dream itself you jump a step on the ladder and ask your inner self and therefore there is less room for trolling but the pure experience.

feel free to write me a pm when you have interesting experiences or attempts in this direction because i am interested in this topic too.

      Hhaha good luck then Llama!

RelaxAndDream... no I didn't open it! sadly my dream ended to fast, this part was really interesting as I don't think I ever expected him to give me a present, and its the first thing he did!

I've engaged the "awareness behind the dream" before, but have never asked a question... just requests like being taken somewhere. Most of these attempts have been successful so yes, I will definitely try to engage it with questions. I guess my idea was that personifying an aspect of myself could be easier for interaction.

I've been working on this idea of creating or calling a dream guide (I do believe they might be entities or beings in ocassions) and ask him questions about how to develop further in the lucid state, thins such as how to improve recall, how to gain lucidity for often, etc... makes sense? My main goal at the moment is becoming proficient before I start getting deeper into other stuff.

      Thanks!!!
      Best wishes
