      Near waking up?

So a few nights ago I got my second lucid dream unfortunately it was nothing on my first...

Basically I found myself pulled underwater by a large wave in the sea and didn't have time to take a breath before I went under. I fought as long as i could but eventually the instinct to breathe came over me and I took a breath (ability to breathe underwater is a sign for me that I'm dreaming). I was shocked naturally but did plug y nose to see if I could breathe (....) and I became properly aware that I was dreaming. Just as I was about to check my hands I "felt" my "eyes" open and had a vision of my old bedroom. I tried hard to keep them shut to stay in the dream but "woke up" in my old bedroom. I was logging on to my laptop where I then woke up for real. Was I at the end of my REM phase??

Usually for me my REM stays as long as I'm sleeping, but that sounds like a false awakening and you can do RCs and awareness to become lucid from them, maybe the shock from your water dream could've made you "think" you woke up but in reality you haven't.

You can also try DEILD if you're able to after waking from a dream or a lucid dream so you can chain them.

I hope some of that helped but remember to do RCs when you wake up because false awakenings tend to happen a lot (well for me anyways) and you can easily catch yourself dreaming by them.

Lucid dreams make your dreams come true!!

It was a false awakening indeed, I'm just a little annoyed that my mowning reality checks haven't carried over yet. Very strange to literally be pulled out of a lucid like that? I haven't read accounts like these before??
