Has this happened to anyone else?

I dont know the reason behind it but iv noticed that you can practise lucid dreaming techniques for weeks on end and only think of lucid dreaming and get nothing but then as soon you stop practising for a few days you end up having lucid dreams.
The reason to me is unknown...seems like when practising and thinking constantly about lucid dreaming it causes your brain to think of anything else apart from lucid dreaming...like asif your brain needs a break from it....maybe i should practise for a week or 2 then have 2 days of not thinking of lucid dreaming and maybe my brain will then help me because its free on lucid thinking?
Iv been practising ADA and RCs for the past 2 weeks now and i havent had anything in return...iv even had a few dreams where i should have been lucid and just didnt...maybe i might stop for a few days and see what the outcome is?

I've experienced this too, although I'm also not sure why this is. Maybe simplifying the process of becoming lucid makes it easier to grasp.

Actually, I've also been thinking of experimenting to see if not focusing on lucid dreaming at all would lead to better results. I almost do this already with auto suggestion being most effective for me but maybe no technique would be even better.

The non-technique I would use is just to make my mind and body as relaxed as possible throughout the entire night.

It might work initially. Like when you workout you get stronger for a couple days after. But you need to workout consistently to get results.

I've met the same thing actually. But it's not in LDs but when i study for exams my grades decrease but when i just do the exams by depending on what I've *heard*, I get better results.

      Hey there,

It happens, but like Phoebus mentioned, it only works initially, so don't stop practicing. To continue his analogy, you need to work out consistently to get results, yet at the same time, you also need to consistently let your body rest to get results. It seems to be similar with lucid dream practice. Too much just wears you out (mentally) and stops lucid dreaming. Too little stops it too. Finding the right balance between practicing and being relaxed about it is something we all need to find out for ourselves.

      Just my 2 cents,

The subconscious is like people, if you force it, it won't cooperate
