      Really basic question.

My question is, how do I realize my awakenings durring the night. I want to stop using alarms because they seem less effective. I've tried the water method, but that just wakes me up in my early sleep cycles at like midnight or 1:00 am, which is too early. I also use the affirmation, "I will realize my awakenings", but haven't had any luck yet.

What am I doing wrong? Is there anything I'm missing?

It sounds like you're just setting and forgetting your interest in catching your awakenings. You have to maintain this interest until it happens. I think it's better though to maintain an interest in the dreams that precede the awakenings than maintaining an interest in the awakenings themselves. The exception would be if you consistently have false awakenings.

Simply focus more on it, visualize it, you need your body prepared and waiting for those moments.
