Question Not sure what just happened...

I woke up early this morning and was still really tired. I imagined that I was in a dream scenario and became lucid. I imagined walking down my street, and it became really vivid. Like I was dreaming for real, but I could still feel my body in my bed. It was very strange, almost like I was in two places at once.
So what I want to know is, was it the start of a WILD? If I allowed myself to fall into a deeper sleep could I have fully immersed myself in the dream?

      That is interesting.

If it was that vivid you might have already been in the dream state but did not know it, sometimes even when one has a high level of awareness one can be convinced that one is actually awake, a type of false awakening.

Or when you awoke you were still in a strong Hypnagogic or hypnotic state, allowing you to manifest strong and distinct mental images quite beyond what is ordinary in you normal waking state.

"So what I want to know is, was it the start of a WILD?"

I think this very well could have been the start of a WILD, access to intense mental imagery is a good indicator the dream state is near.

"If I allowed myself to fall into a deeper sleep could I have fully immersed myself in the dream?"

I think so. If you were in a half sleep trance state but not actually dreaming I think it would have been best if you started doing some WILD method to speed up and solidify the process. If you could have stayed focused, simply staying present and letting thing develop by themselves could be a good course of action as well.

"but I could still feel my body in my bed"

This could have been a dream body representation, which can be just as vivid as actually being in your Real bed. This has happened to me before as well, when attempting a WILD i lost consciousness for a few moments, when I 'awoke' I was convinced that I had simply woke up again because I could distinctly feel my body laying on my bed as I had last known it, then I started to notice strange noises and people talking which I knew could not be real. It was at this point that I got up from my dream bed and started the WILD proper.

Thank you for your answer! I've never had an actual WILD before, so this is all new to me.
