      Question A problem with WILD

Iīve had this problem with WILDs for a while now, where the transition from waking life to the dream happens too quickly for me to keep my awareness. I usually do a WBTB before attempting the WILD, and i lay in bed for about 30 minutes. During this time i donīt really feel much of a progressive relaxation in my body or see any hypnogogia. And then out of nowhere i am inside a regular dream. I donīt feel any kind of transitioning or any signs of reaching the lucid state, I just either feel like nothing is happening or I am right there in a non lucid dream. Have anyone else had this kind of problem? Please share your thoughts.

Sure, I have had this problem! Sometimes the dream just starts without any hypnagogia or tactile sensations and we can't identify the dream itself.

However, the lack of hypnagogia or tactile sensations during the transition is not a problem if we can identify the dream itself during the dream.

When we are dreaming, we don't have to rely on tactile signs to identify the dream itself. If we can see or hear signs that we are in a dream, we identify the dream that way as well.

Sure, sometimes there are dreams that can only be identified based on the transition from dreaming to waking. However, I find in my dreams, there is usually something in the dream that can possibly let me know that it is a dream.

Look for anything in the dreams you have that can possibly let you know that you dreaming. Rely on those signs that you are dreaming rather than the hypnogogoia and tactile sensations, because as you have experienced, you might not experience the hypnogogia and tactile sensations.

It is also handy to know a motionless reality checks. Sometimes, while dreaming of sleeping in my bed, I will only know I am dreaming after doing a motionless reality check. The simplest motionless reality check I can think of is moving my body and/or bed my using only my intention to do. I remember to do these motionless reality checks after experiencing a sign that I might be dreaming, such as the ringing in my ears being louder than usual, or some other sign I am not conscious of (for some reason I get sort of a gut instinct to do a motionless reality check for seemingly no reason at all).

Had this as well, fortunately my awareness at this point is usualy high enough (due to WBTB) so i get lucid shortly afterwards.
But if you have to wait 30 min till you start the transition you should be awake enough, i guess.
I normaly have to wait only a couple of minutes till I start entering the Dream and the transition itself is rather short.
I'm not extremely experienced in WILD, tough so it's interesting to hear what the more experienced dreamers say.

I like the motionless reality check, I'll definately try this!

Usually I experience non-lucid dreams after WILDing if I do the WBTB to soon (like 4h in) or to short.
How high was your arwareness in the Dream itself?

My awareness wasnīt that high, just slightly higher than regular dreams. I think a possible problem might be me not being tired enough and laying in bed for too long and loosing my awareness while drifting away.
