Thread: Realise that I'm dreaming but can't controll

I've had a few lucid dreams here and there (4) and yesterday I had realised that I was dreaming but I couldn't really control it.
What I mean is that I didn't really feel like I was there doing stuff, like I was watching a movie from the point of view of the main character. Help?

It sounds like you had a non-lucid dream about being lucid. What you think about a lot will often show up in your dreams. Generally when I get lucid there's a burst of joy associated with it, and I've learned if that isn't there it usually means I wasn't lucid. But if you're dreaming about lucidity then you're getting close to the real thing.

Or sometimes I do this weird thing where I'm on the edge of lucidity but somehow it doesn't spark full lucid awareness. I mean I'll get the sudden realization that I'm in a weird state where the usual rules don't apply, and I recognize that I've experienced this state before, but I don't quite understand that this is a dream. So I neglect to do any reality checks and I don't understand that I can fly or walk through walls or do basically whatever I want, and I remain stuck in the dream script.

I'd say you experienced one of these.

Sometimes you can become lucid and be in situations that are tough to get out of. Like being completely disoriented, blind, or in your case, watching a scene like a movie.

I think the best thing you can do is try and refresh the whole dreamscape. Maybe close your eyes and imagine a new scene, one that you're actually in. Or if you're afraid that closing your eyes will end the dream, just try to will yourself into the world
