Near WILD? You be the judge.

All right, story time. It's 10:00 AM, I had just finished my English test minutes before. I'm tired, sure, but I have enough mental stamina to make proper sleep a bit of a chore.

I rest my head in between my arms as I prepare to go to sleep. Vivid, almost rippling waves of light blue, green, and purple lights flood my vision. Then my hands grow cold.

Visions of a cabin in the Alaskan mountain range engulf my mind's eye. Then, almost as a respondent, my right hand goes completely ice cold.

Then the obvious happens. My eyes start twitching almost involuntarily. I sweat all over, the vividness of the dream scene grows ever more... But I chicken out and force myself to wake up.

This whole process took 5 minutes plus. I just wanna know whether this was an indicator of me accomplishing a WILD technique or not.

It does sound a lot like a WILD, that's for sure. The time that it took for you to drop into it is pretty interesting though in how quickly you went from putting your head down to vivid dreamlets forming.

To me, it sounds like you were on your way to having a WILD. As you gain experience transitioning into dreams, it will be easier to stay calm and fearless because you'll get used to it. The amount and type of hypnagogia experienced during the transition can vary a lot. It isn't always this intense; there can be times where there isn't any.

I can only remember one time something like this happened. I woke up early in the morning, fell back to sleep, but then my body went numb, I saw flashing lights, and eventually fell through a "wormhole" into my dream.

The thing was, I knew I couldn't stop it, so I was too scared to even open my eyelids. Here though, my body had not fallen into complete paralysis, so I bolted right before it did.

Why would you be scared if you understand what it is, and that it's just normal sleep stuff?

Well, to be honest, I just can't convince myself otherwise. I know it's silly, I know it'll be over in a few minutes AT WORST, but there's an involuntary sense of dread that envelops me when it DOES happen.

I think what really stopped me was the fact I knew I could exit out of it when I wanted, where the last time this happened, I was too scared of seeing hallucinations to even try waking myself up.

I just don't like being in a state of helplessness, which is kind of what SP is.

Yeah, it sounds like you were almost there. When I do WILD it happens this way, a scene appears and starts getting more immersive until I'm fully inside it.

Don't be afraid, you go through this every night, it's just that you do unconsciously.
