Need a little bit of help

Hi, I sometimes realize in my dreams that I am dreaming, however at the same time I don't. This is a little bit hard to express, but I know that I am dreaming but if a killer or something showed up, I would still be scared even tho I know I am dreaming. Even tho I realized I am dreaming, I go on as nothing happened. What does this mean? Do I need to perform more reality checks or what? I am a beginner and I don't know much about Lucid Dreaming Please help me

Hi QuickLemon, I am somewhat of a beginner too, but I have been lucid dreaming for a few years. I don't know if this is what you are trying to express, but it sounds like you are lucid dreaming but still feeling emotions as if it was real. I have felt this in lucid dreams too, and I would consider it a good thing unless it is a negative emotion like in your example. I would compare it to a good movie. You know the way a movie can affect your emotions when it is really well done? Like when someone is treated unfairly in a movie and it just makes you angry?

When I am watching a movie and I want to cry I think to myself "This is just a movie, no one really died, that is just an actor pretending to be dead." or something similar. Even though obviously I know I am watching a movie. Maybe when you see something scary in a lucid dream like you mentioned you can remind yourself "this is a dream, this person can't actually hurt me, I am dreaming". I hope that helped or at least got you thinking! Good luck!

Hi QuickLemon! Good question. There is something you might come accross as you continue to research lucid dreaming called "levels of lucidity" or "layers of lucidity". Here are some examples:

      https://www.dreamviews.com/wiki/User...rs-of-Lucidity
      https://www.dreamviews.com/beyond-dr...-dreaming.html
      https://www.dreamviews.com/general-l...planation.html

Thanks for the question because it is an important concept. I could use to brush up on this myself. A have a lot of layer two's at best. But I tend to be a little more respectful of the dream's will, due to my own beliefs about the nature of dreams. I think its possible to have a high level of respect for dream figures and the dream's will, while at the same time being very lucid.
