      Hypnagogic imagerie

      Hi guys, it's Mary.
Please, can you help me to go on? I'm stuck at this step: I see hypnagogic imagerie or I'm into a hypnagogic static scene and don't know how to get a lucid dream from this hypnagogic state....
Excuse my bad English, I'm an Italian girl.
      Thank you.
      MARY

      Think of it like this:

You're in the passenger seat of a car on a long journey to somewhere. You can choose to either watch the whole journey and get terribly bored and not actually speed up the process, or you can drift off in your own thoughts, only slightly paying attention to what's going on and before you know it you've arrived at your destination.

While not entirely the same, the basic concept still applies. When attempting to transition from wakefulness into a dream, it's best to just let nature take its course. Let it all happen and try not to concentrate too much on it. The idea is to fall asleep. But somewhere in the back of your mind you kind of want to keep a little light bulb on, of sorts, and what I mean is you want to only just be aware of what's going on. Just a little - just enough so that you don't fall asleep AND lose consciousness at the same time. That's all there is to it really.

Becoming lucid seems like a hard task you need to put all your effort into achieving. It's actually the opposite. The more effort you put into noticing what's happening and what you need to do next, the harder you will find it. Just learn to let go.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Hi, GravesTC, thank you for your attention.
Then, I heve to let to flow the images during the hypnagogic state and wait for LD?
      Is this all to do?
      Thanks.

Wow! I see you only have one post, yet this post contains some advanced understanding. I support everything you have said. I would just add that Maryssima should read threads about using an 'anchor' to keep that tiny bit of awareness while still allowing sleep to happen.

Pretty much, but be careful not to wait too intently. Doing so will keep you awake and the hypnagogic imagery will either stop or fade away slowly and nothing will happen. I've made this mistake countless times.

Definitely look into what Sivason has said about an "anchor". This is what I meant by keeping a fragment of your awareness active. And yes, I may have only made one post but I initially joined dreamviews around 6 years ago. I became pretty adept at lucid dreaming but then stopped for whatever reason and deactivated my account. I haven't had a lucid dream for a long time now but still have a plethora of knowledge I'd like to share with people, so here I am again.
