      Problem with SSILD

After a lot of try and error with SSILD, finally today I was able to notice what I'm missing. I'm doing only 2 of the 3 senses, because I can't fall asleep if I do body sense. So two senses only gives me 50% lucidity and that is not enough to get me lucid most of the time, but occasionally I get lucid. So I was wondering why it happen like that and finally noticed when I found myself on unfamiliar place I don't get lucid, it only gives me very vivid dream with control(haha it is strange right, no lucidity but still be able to change the dream environment and summon things). So in the dream I get lucid, often I was in familiar place, like my apartment. So my question is:

What to add to my cycles to be able to find myself on familiar ground?

I always return to SSILD....it has become my comfort zone for lucidity. I find that the body awareness is the most important part for me....when I have strong body awareness I get my best lucidity. I theorize that in the dream I am maintaining a thread of contact with my real body that is back in my bed and that is triggering memory which is, in turn, triggering stronger lucidity.

From reading your post it seems as though this might be what you are missing. Your sleeping body may be the familiar ground that you are missing. Try working on your timing for SSILD so that you stay close enough to sleep and can still do the body part of the cycle.

I have experimented with a lot of subtle changes to the classic SSILD protocol and I find that I do best when I go back to that exact protocol.

      Thank you

Your answer directed me in the right direction again. You are right when I used the full method I had more Lucid dreams as well. Your theory is similar to mine, the body sense cycle are grounding me in the present moment, which in return give me more FA like lucid dreams, ever since I started using 2 from 3 sense I started receiving more random like dream scenarios, but I suck at DILD. I wonder if body sense give FA, what the other two senses are doing Cosmic Iron himself said this was a mystical technique.

I have just come back across the threshold from fairly strong SSILD lucidity. I went to bed with the intention of going for a WILD but when the time came and I began that protocol, I knew it was not going to work. I was feeling too sleepy and there was not enough time for a prolonged WBTB.

So I switched to SSILD. Even then, my concentration was weak....particularly in the sight and hearing portions of the cycle. I remembered this discussion and concentrated most strongly on my body again. I got through four sloppy cycles that way and let myself fall asleep.....into strong and prolonged lucidity (after one FA) that was, however, somewhat passive in nature. Usually I get a sense of calm concentration when I listen for the silence and a sense of expansiveness when I look for the space behind my closed eyes......I think they are all important for a most complete lucid experience......but I have learned to take what is there for the taking.

Since it is Saturday morning, I'll spend some time in the studio in the pre-dawn darkness and then go back to bed and see about that WILD.

I really want to be like you, too sleepy can really bring my wild back.

Tonight I did a full series of cycles and again I got insomnia for 1.5 hour. When finally fell asleep, I got a creepy loop of FA. They were at least 7 of them, I will keep it short.

It began with me, drop my new phone of my bed. The display crack and I got really angry, because they said in store that it has gorilla glass 4 and is a shock resistant, but it crack from only 10 inches. I woke up and realize it was a FA, only to find my phone still broken, another FA I thought. Woke up again, everything was normal until I opened my window and saw a Lion in my backyard, I thought... seriously!? Woke up again and had hour long conversation with my mother only to woke up again and see she was not here to begin with. Found my father in super drunk mode and needed to slap myself to woke up in the middle of the street totally naked . I woke up again and thought this time was for real, but then as if the dream swallowed us up, it was really creepy. I found myself in unknown location and my family taken as hostages from a lady that has super creepy laugh. She was made of silver metal and had lucid abilities. She said that, she gonna eat us all and we will never wake up again. I never thought a day would come that I'd have to transform into mine ultimate imagery form, she was really strong. My ultimate imagery form is super hybrid between The God and The Devil. The battle was amazing, the visual and audio effects were like in the Avengers. I was too strong for her and needed to break only the first seal of my power. The feeling was amazing when I broke my first seal and explode into a giant pillar of Light , and kicked her ass out of existence.

I think, I'm gonna stick to two senses only after all

Since it is Saturday morning, I'll spend some time in the studio in the pre-dawn darkness and then go back to bed and see about that WILD.
I hope you reached an amazing WILD.

I'm back to 3 senses again, but I found a workaround for me

When I concentrate on third sense, my body become numb and that prevent me to fall asleep, but if I concentrate on my hands instead, it give me the illusion that I have no body and fall asleep pretty fast as a result.

Nice job finding what works for you.

I am realizing that this all really starts to work when we make these subtle adjustments to our techniques and become comfortable enough with them that our confidence level rises.

      Sleep well....and dream.

I enjoyed reading this thread. It makes me want to try SSILD once June 8th passes over and I have time again.

And wow, seven false awakenings, GordanFreeman?! That's quite a lot. I wonder if I'd find that unnerving a bit.

Last night I had so much hypnagogig imagery during my SSILD cycles that at the end I knew I was not going to be able to go right to sleep. So I stayed in that hypnagogic state and ended up dropping into a WILD.

Sometimes you need to just go with the flow I guess.
