Improving your dream recall and returning to dream journaling in some form sounds like a good way to me for you to start getting back into it. Although I think there have been a few posts recently about improving ability to become lucid, I'm not being able to find them just at the moment, but they are around.
Although I have very few lucid dreams, averaging at like one a year at best, I think that having a general interest in dreaming as a whole can be beneficial towards attaining lucidity but it also lets you appreciate your non-lucid dreams better too, which I think is a very valuable thing. Personally, WBTB seems to be one of the easiest methods for me to actually become lucid but I also find it difficult to get into WBTB because I share a bed with my partner and I often feel it will affect schedules if I purposefully try doing WBTB.
Some people I think like to train their prospective memory and intention-setting; if memory serves, I believe this is actually a recommended approach in La Berge's book "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming", which incidentally is a good beginner's read anyway.
