      No.

Although Lucid Dreams may become somewhat mild as they become somewhat ordinary and blase, a First Lucid Dream is something akin to one's first sexual experience... and one would not have to ask. Or what they had told the mother of my daughter when she had asked whether a false labor was actual Labor... she would not have to ask about the real thing.

A first Lucid Dream is something of a Satori Experience. You will KNOW that you are in a Dream and it will FREAK YOU OUT that despite it being a Dream IT ALL LOOKS SO REAL... so REAL that it SHIMMERS with REALITY. It may not always continue to be so amazing, but the first one will be like that.

Leo Volont hit it on the head with a big ole hammer. You will DEFINATELY konw when you have your first LD.When you become Lucid, you will relize completely that you in a dream. And though the world may not look different, you will look at the world differently, becuase it isn't the real world. It's your mind. Though you'll prbably flip out becuase of the emotion and wake up maybe 10 seconds later. Unless you're incredibly disciplined and can manage that on your first time. Ah, I remember my first LD . . . good stuff.

The funny thing is the harder I tried I just got more vivid dreams. It wasn't until I took a break that my first Lucid came about. Try to the best of what you know, but don't become obsessed or try to force it. It will come in time and you will know.

Mine lasted about 20 minutes in dream land. (What a 20 minutes that was....) This may have been my first induced LD, but I had many natural ones before that.

      Cheers.

I had my first LD on May 17, of 2005(about a month after joing the DV). I was trying pretty hard, but I hadn't done any methods that involved waking up at 4 or aynthing, I just inteded upon it before I went to sleep, and I kept a dream journal, and eventually, I just realized i was dreaming. But then . . . . then I had a dry spell that lasted for exactly 200! days. So if you have one or a few, but then don't get any for a long time, don't give up. Just be patient, you have all the time n the world.

EDIT: Read about it in my Dream Journal

Mine was sort of a brilliant flash in the rest of normality.

      It amounted to:
WHOA DREAM AWESOME! TIME TO DO STU-*awake*
But it was awesome. To the max.

Later I had something a little longer. It's the strangest feeling ever. When it's happening, it's so intensely real. Later, the details and memory of it tend to blur around the edges. And then there are those little spot dreams that you don't realize are dreams until later. It's bizzare. You swear something actually happened. You remember it happening. Yet, on closer inspection, you realize it happened in a dream.
      Yeah.

Mine have never been super vivid, unless I focused on something particular, like the sidewalk. Problem is I always end up going to do something fun and wake up because of the excitement as soon as I start.
