      new experiment for us all to try

      I have a hypolisis....If you refrain from eating 6 hours before bed you will have more lucid dreams...Lately I've been eating a late dinner, and also haveing next to none lucid dreams....yesterday my last meal was at 2pm and I was'nt feeling great and did'nt eat again....well I had several lucid dreams....Try it.

      hmm...interesting...odd, but i guess it's worth a try. couldn't hurt.

      no eats before dreams

      I've tried fasting (3 days with nothing but water) and that seemed to increase the frequency of my dreams (I woke up several times during the night). I thought it might reduce dreams or lucidity, but it did not. I oft wonder what it would be like fasting for longer periods like a week or so...

      Who, other than a crack-ho, would want to not eat for more than a day? That's crazy. I want to dream, but damn. I gots to eat too....I don't think fasting is very healthy. I know people used to do it in ancient times, but they also 'bled' people to cure illnesses.
      Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day.

      I've never tried fasting, cause shit, I like to eat....I'm just talking about six hours before sleep....Actaully it happened to me more then once...I tryed not to eat past 6 for a diet, and that week( yah my diets last real long) my lucid dreaming was amazing....Maybe it has something to do with your body putting energy into digestion....It would'nt hurt me to fast awhile, but I lack the wilpower

      "crack-hos" don't fast. they just can't or won't eat.

      Fasting is actually good for you IF IT'S DONE RIGHT. AND... a fast doesn't necessarily have to be a complete fast -some people fast from eating everything except fruit or veggies (which is really just a vegan diet) or other food types. It has detoxifying effects, but the main purpose of a fast (in my understanding) is to train and discipline your mind and your body. It is usually accompanied by prayer and meditation -without the distraction of food impulses. It taught me that I often eat just for the pleasure of it and that I really don't need a lot of the junk that I consume. Painful? I would say the first day and a half is like quitting an addiction because eating is just such a habit that the body's used to... After that it gets much easier to focus your mind on other things. It can be dangerous, which is why I emphasize that it must be done right. Some people might do it to lose weight which is insane and others do it only for the detox effect, which I would also discourage.

      That's good advice...I actually tried a vegan diet for awhile, but I seriousely have'nt honed( i think that's how you spell it)my self control.

      I kindof agree with it, cause lately i've been eating late, And have had like next to no dream recall and no lucid dreams

      ha! tried this last night, didn't eat for six hours until i went to bed, and my dreams were über-vivid and easy to recall. everyone should try it and post results!

      Hmmm, I like this. I have been having late dinners recently and have had no lucid dreams (although i only had one, lol!). BUT the time I did have a lucid dream, I didnt eat a few hours before going to bed! Although my dream occurred in the morning... Well for some reason I think this will work, and im going to try it! Thanks for the idea jill!

      Being my sleep schedule is so messed up I wake up around 4pm eat breakfast, go to work and around 12 midnight I have dinner and then dont eat again untill round 4pm. Although today I had a snackysnack just before I went to bed and had a very busy night, 4 dreams 2 lucid, I am werkin kinda now and in the factory I will type them up a lil later

      Holy crap! I'm reading up on this fasting stuff and I learned a lot of new stuff. Fasting can cure such things as addictions too beer and ciggaretes. I read something about someone who drank a lot of beer and then fasted for !!!! TWO WEEKS!! and when they drank one beer after the fasting session they got very drunk. Fasting that long is (i guess) actually healthy for you. All the energy that is used for digesting and breaking down food is rather used for cleaning you system out. Yes, it
      s normal for people to get naseous and vomit... for the first couple of days. As evan angel said, the desire for food started to fade and the "sickness" did too. I need to try that, i want some crazy dreams. Evanangel, did you feel better after your fasting?

      First, nobody forms a physical addiction to beer. They might become very tolerable and in there mind want more, but nothing in beer causes an addiction. However, nicotine is different, as we all know, cigarettes are highly addictive.

      Second, the reason the guy got really drunk off one beer has nothing to do with addiction. Have you ever heard about drinking on an empty stomach?

      Finally, I think its just silly to fast only to have lucid dreams. If you want to fast to lose a few pounds or because its part of your religion, go for it, but to stop eating because of your dreams is a little too far in my opinion. The only way that fasting MIGHT be of some help when trying to attain lucidity is that youll have to tell your hungry brain you're fasting BECAUSE you want to have lucid dreams. However, this will only work similar to a reality check where your brain would relate hunger with dreams. im not sure, thats just my opinion. Good thought though, good luck with that.

      I just had a final thought actually, another way not eating might help a little is just that your sub-concious mind wont have to work on digesting food and will put forth saved energy towards lucid dreaming.

      Close to what you(wasup) said about it using its energy to clean out the system, but not exactly.

      For starters, the more and more beer you drink it takes more and more beers to get you drunk so after he hasen't had one for a while than you'll get really drunk.

      Also, I wasn't talking about fasting for a lucid dream and that was the farthest reason from my mind. I'm reading on places that it detoxifies your cells and that it makes you feel really really good and you have a clear mind and that's what I need right now.

      And, someone said something about having a clear head you have clear dreams and then you will dream better and stuff.

      I'm gonna try fasting. I tried not eating for about a day one time and it does make you naseous.

      I did. Except once when I stupidly ran too soon after the fast and I got sick. You have to treat your body delicately during and after the fast until you bring yourself out of it -by eating small portions of stuff that is easy to digest. I would discourage your from fasting just to have dreams. There's no guarantee there and you can easily make yourself sick because your immune system runs low... Overall, I just like it because it provides time for me to focus on requests or issues that I need to bring before God in prayer while also teaching me not to invest so much energy into food (buying it, preparing it, eating it, and making my schedule around it) It's really kind of ridiculous how I spend so much of my time and energy on food and take it for granted. It's easy to do here in the U.S. where we waste food all the time.

      Well Jill, you are right, but during my one day fast I didn't have any more vivid dreams than usual. But, when I didn't eat dinner until 8 00 last night I barely remembered any dreams.
