      Controling people in sleep

On of my friends is a very heavy sleeper. One day, when he was sleeping, one of my friends asked him a question, and to our surprise he answered it. So then we kept asking him questions, mostly yes or no questions, because he didn't really speak through the whole thing, mostly just grunts, and nods. Then after a while, we tried to get him to do things. We told him that people were around and put him in different scenarios, such as he was being chased, and we told him to run, then he would begin kicking while lying on the ground (that's where he was sleeping), as if he were really running. We gave him a toy gun, and we told him that people were after him, and to shoot them, and he started "shooting" with the gun. So I'm just kind of curious as to what this is and why and how it happens.

Looks to me like your friend was messing with you.

But really, I'm not sure what happened there. I've had people give me a "yes" or "no" while asleep, but never have I seen movement like that. Except maybe the occasional slap while trying to wake someone.

It went on for about 30 minutes. And through the whole thing, he never spoke or laughed or anything. It was as if he was dreaming what we were telling him and parcially reacting to it as if it were really happening.

Perhaps he was in some sort of unintentional hypnotic state?? I'm not sure if that is possible, but, hey.... maybe his mind is highly impressionable while asleep.

I would also tend to assume the same, but it's not improbable that it could actually happen...

There is such a thing in which the dreaming person is in such a state that he or she is susceptible from outside influences.

Sometimes you can even have whole conversations with them.
Never heard of ''steering'' someone's ACTIONS though. But I guess that if sleep-walking is possible, and talking is possible, that this ''COULD" be as well.

Of course like others said, it could also be complete nonsense.

Never heard of this before. Maybe it was some kind of unintentional hypnosis or some thing. Or maybe he was messing with you.

I remember reading a book about this in elementary school. It said that if you ask someone a question while they are asleep, that they will answer it truthfully. But I've tried it on different people and I've only found that he and one other person does it.

Yeah, my friend remembered none of it the next day too. Try asking him stuff next time he's sleeping.

A similar thing happened to my friend while he was passed out after a night of drinking. I wasnt there, (it was in England this spring break, I was in another hotel room), but the two friends with him got it all on tape.

They started asking him yes or no questions and such, just random stuff about the night. It was a hilarious video, he was answering all of them in a very like passed out mumbling way. It was totally real too, he went on with it for maybe 15 minutes or so. He was just totally passed out and seemed to hear sort of what they were saying but subconsciously processing it and answering it.

He didnt remember anything in the morning, but they have it on tape and showed us all. Pretty damn funny, so I guess its possible.
