      Hello, and some Q's

Hello, my name is Doug (if you didn't figure it out already), and I'm now working on becoming more lucid. So far (after a few days), I've already have gotten my recall up to about two a night. I've had lucid dreams before (I didn't know what they were called then) when I was in elementry school, and about one more after that. (It seems to me that the peak for natrual lucid dreaming is about 8 or 9.) I have a few questions about lucid dreams.

1: Once I remember having a lucid dream when I was 8. I appered in my living room, and I remembered that I built a tent from blankets and chairs in the same spot, in order to sleep in. I asked my mom (who was on the phone) if she took the tent down. She says, "Not right now, I'm on the phone", and dissappered. I realize I'm dreaming. I tried doing a breaststroke through the air, and floated up a little, than drifted down a little more. With a whole bunch of effort, I was able to get myself up into the loft, then hit my head on the ceiling and woke.

Has anyone started flying, or had a lucid dream when they were little where some of the rules in the waking world still exist a little? It felt kinda like I was swimming to the bottom of a pool, but the opposite direction...

2: In a dream I had recently (non-lucid), I walked into a computer lab, with the intent of typing something for school. I walked up and sat down. Apparently it worked (now that I think of it, the screen was really blurred out). I got done typing and walked out.

Now, I know machines in the dreamworld have a tendency not to like working. But..., it seemed like it worked, and I have total amniesa of actually typing on it. This happen to anyone else?

3: Has anyone tried turning themselves into a machine? Like a gun, jet, or computer? Can someone try and tell me the results? I'm sure it would be interesting to see how that works out!

4: Anyone have good luck with brain wave entrainment? Specificly 3.9Hz?

Thanks alot, I can't wait to try to have more control of my dreamworld!

      - Doug

w00t, after my first night of really trying to have a lucid dream, I do! It went like this (BTW: I drank a whole bunch of water before I slept):

At first, I was in this swamp, and I had to goto the restroom very badly. I found a shack-like store and went in. No bathrooms. I went back out side and tried to go again, no luck (thank god).

Now I find myself walking into the restrooms at a hockey game. I take a stall and try to go. Nope, still can't.

Now, what seems like the next morning, My mom is driving from a different looking church in a white suv (we don't own a white suv), and I', in the back for some odd reason. I see David (someone from school) come up to the car, and we talk about something. I am very tired for some odd reason. Because of the church, and suv, I decide to do a reality check. My watch (which, in the dream, was on my wrist, which, in the waking life it's on my belt loop) says four o' clock, which seems strange for coming out of church. I check again and it changes! Amazed, I check again, and it changes again! "Hey, I'm dreaming!", I say. Realizing it was a dream, I hop out of the suv and start walking to the sidewalk. Amazed still at the watch, I try sucsessfuly to make it move really fast with my mind. When I get to the sidewalk (which has a bit of a grade), I face opposite of the grade and try to fly like I did when I was a kid. It works a little bit, but not like it used to. After falling into someones yard, the dreamscape changes.

Now I am in a eerie old warehouse. My computer is to my right, on top of an old victorian desk, flashing odd symbols and ect.. I saw a big iron door straight ahead, and decide to go in it. Inside, is a very messed up version of my bathroom. I go over to the bathtub and try to turn the water on. When, at first, I move the curtain, it seems the facet and dials are gone. They are actually just higher than usual. I try turning one, with no sign of water. Scared, I go into the middle of the room and try spinning into my school. Didn't work (my bathroom is crowded). Scared, I tell myself to wake up.

Anyone know what I should do if I get in a crowded area, and can't spin really well (in order to change scenes).

kill them...pull out a knife, make cuts all over thier bodies and watch them bleed to death...then you will have plenty of room. but, that's just me.

I started flying a long time ago too, even today my dream are very real, most of the rules in place here are the same there, I just have the ability to bend or rarely break them, but a large expenditure of energy is required on my part. Crappy part is most reality checks dont work for me time works timelines are set right I can read, machines work, so i get confuzzled about whats real

As for you idea about changing into a machine or inanimate object. I've never tried that, think I might have to spend some time as a rock.

Yeah, I was kinda frustrated I couldn't fly well. That physics class screwed me up! Damn that Newton!

I ment, like the messed up bathroom (unless the bathtub can die!). I was spinning, and kept hitting the sink, mirror, ect....

And I can't even fly too good, what makes you think I can pull out a knife!?!? A shotgun, well...

(wannabe: Maybe I got that from reading your dream somewhere else on here...?)

(liquid: I've seen that many people here are from colorado. I wonder..., does the mineral-rich radioactive ground have something to do with lucid dreaming......:onders::......?)

how would you change your brainwaves, and how would you know if they changed?

      That would be tricky...

Those crazy monks can conrol most of their bodies involuntary functions, so i would think they could alter their brainwave frequencies, how you would know this is happeneing? altered consious states OBE LD'ing those are pretty good ways of knowing your brainwave frequency has altered?

wasup: I saw that post about the rocks, and it may be somewhat right. Basic physics say everything is moving (maybe you can't see it moving, but it is). If these rocks vibrate at the right frequency (~3.9Hz), it would be just like a less efficent brain wave entrainment.

Serinanth: What I've read and seen about monks, it seems they use a method alot like altered MILD. ... You know that when you go to sleep, you first go through "deep sleep", where the electricity in your noggin is pulsing at .5 to about 3Hz (This is called the delta range). Then, when you get to rem sleep, your brain is going at the lower part of the theta range (3 to 8Hz) This is where creativity and daydreaming also happens. According to http://www.lunarsight.com/freq.htm, the ideal frequency for lucid dreaming is 3.9Hz. (There are also alpha and beta ranges, but they don't deal with sleeping.)

neat links, yeah I have read on brainwave frequencies and yes that is exactly why crystals work, everything resonantes.
