I guess I'll add a bit about my sleeping patterns and what not first. First of all, an important note would be that I am completely nocturnal in terms of sleeping hours. I usually sleep from 6am to 6pm, but recently it has been getting later and later, as you can see by my time of posting. I'm not too sure why I started doing that, it might have to do with problems of depression or insomnia I've had...going days without being able to sleep. I'd lie in bed for a few hours, and not be able to sleep, so I'd get back up. That would continue sometimes for days. My actual sleeping is quite odd though, with my level of consciousness. Sometimes I wonder if I actually even go into a full sleep. This is because of things such as I'll be asleep, and someone will walk in my room, and I'll consciously tell them to get out. The proof that I am conscious when this happens is that I will know who the person is and what time they came in at, and even what they did in my room. At these times and others, I will be unable to move though, under sleep paralysis. I find this part quite interesting. Sometimes when I am sleeping, I will be conscious and try to move myself off of my arm or something, but will be unable to move. It is a bit scary, when you are trying to move but can't, it almost feels like being in a conscious comma. Sometimes I will start panicing, trying to move with no success, other times I will be able to produce slight movements. So that brings me to a huge question I've had: is lucid sleeping possible, being conscious and aware that you are asleep while sleeping but not dreaming?

I've heard that it is possible to be conscience in the deep sleep. I'm not sure if I heard it here on DV or in a book I have Waking Consciencly in your Dreams.

I have experienced what you are talking about before. It feels like you've been up all night, but sometimes find you've been lying there for hours. I've wondered in times like those if I actually did sleep or just lay there.

I think this "insomnia" happens as a result of a couple things. Sometimes sleep paralysis happens becuase our minds are so busy that our thoughts race on endlessly - so much so that it surpasses our body which gets to the point of physical exhaustion. This is one of the things that brings on sleep paralysis. If you are actually depressed and sleeping later and later it could just be worry and stress causing this. If you are REALLY not sleeping you may even get to the point where you start hallucinating - I say this from experience. Since you are experiencing this try to make the best of it . . .

Now to answer your question: SP is lucid sleeping, you are just in the early stages of sleep - meaning your body is asleep but you have not entered rem (dreaming) yet. I know SP can be awkward but try not to fight it. see if you can keep your mind with it long enough to enter a lucid dream.

      Interesting.

Many times when I try to WILD, I feel like I am completely asleep, but I am 100% aware of my body. I sometimes even snore. It's really weird.

      Lucid sleeping... hm..
