Well, in this topic i'm going to explain my general guidelines for LDing that has worked so well for me =P.

Alright, the purpose of these guidelines are:
a) to have a fun and epic LD experience
b) to prolong the length of the time you stay lucid
c) to learn more about how you would really act in extreme situations

So, to get along to the guidelines...

The central hub of how I go around LDing is that though I have the power to do the impossible, I refrain from abusing my powers. Its best summed up like this: "Why move mountains when you can walk around them and experience the wonders that lie there?". You'd be surprised how accurate that anology is. For example, if faced with an enemy that you could kill with a cheap shot, whether its by using your mind to destroy it or by simply crushing it with awesome might you should refrain from doing any such thing. It you kill them then they're dead. Remember the point of a quest is not the end result but the quest itself. Give yourself enough abilities to be at par with the enemy then go at it. You dont even have to win. I often dont. Have the enemy leave you there broken and defeated. You can then train yourself, become more powerful and when you do eventually face off again and win you will feel true satasfaction.

And if you feel like having huge amounts of magical powers, the ability to fly and hurculean strength.. Make an enemy that has those same powers and maybee even more. That way you can have this huge ariel battle that includes throwing each other through buildings and whatnot =D.

Another thing that it forces you to do is find solutions to problems. Its fun to work around the problems you encounter in a dream even if you could blast it away in seconds.

Also, if you dont do anything surreal to it, your mind wont do anything surreal back. This makes your dreams much more believable and makes them feel so much more real =). this also cuts down on the randomness you sometimes have to deal with in a dream which makes it alot easier to contend with and if you wish later, analyse.

About the prolonging of the time that you stay lucid.. Its all just a small theory of mine so it may not hold too much merit but... my LDs tend to last an entire night each so I think theres some connection even if its not what I think it is. Anyways I think that the less you abuse your powers and do things that blatently could not happen in reality the less likely you are to wake up. If you do start to do things your mind registers as false it'll start to get confused and you'll run into problems.

And finally, to learn more about yourself...

If you are blowing up buildings at will can that really tell you much about yourself? Now, if you are off solving problems in your dream, then you can look back later and say "wow, i handled that situation well" or "dammit, I react bad to that" or even my favorite "so THATS what I should do in that sort of situation!". Its actually helped me tons =D.

So, theres what I do in LDs. Comments and questions are welcomed and appreciated. I adore feedback =D (and i'm an attention whore =P live with it)

Also I need a catch phrase to name my technique. Any suggestions?
