Okay, so I tried to do a WILD today (afternoon). Eventually, I saw an HI that was of some sort of room. The position in the room was moving around. I tried to use the technique of "moving towards" the HI, but I had no luck getting to the actual lucid dream. After about 15 seconds, I became angry and opened my eyes, ending the WILD attempt.

How does one transition easily from HI to an actual LD?

Please don't tell me rhetorical things like "imagine that you're moving".

      um, well

hypnogogic imagery is a strange thing. But you said you were doign it in the afternoon, thats jsut a daydream.

unless you have a different sleep schedule, for example, you work nights, to lucid dream, you actually have to be dreaming, which occurs after about 5-6 hours of sleep, so if you go to bed at 11, wake up at 4

and, thats when your supposed to wake up for a WILD

you cnat jsut close your eyes and WILD

HI is basically a "halfway" dream, i like to think. Its almost liek dreaming, but not the real thing. Try reading the tutorials untill you understand it better. and also, when actually attempting a wild when you wake up after 4 or 5 hours, it takes longer than 15 minutes for most people(30+)

keep tryin tho. Remember, you cant jsut have a lucid dream or anydream for that matter. REM cycles have to be pretty long before that happens
*note*^ the above comment was not meant to be hurtful, nor insulting. It is just another of my cynnical observations of fact. If you happened to be offended by my logic, too bad.

Ok em, It's a diffrence between daydreaming and a lucid dream. First of all: A WILD of what I've read in this forum is often done at naps. They tend to work really great during naps. No clue why though. So it doesn't have to be a daydream. A daydream is when you wander off in your own thoughts stil awake, but your perception on the real world isn't that great since you're concentrating on the daydream.

second of all, a HI ( Hypnocogic imagery ) is not like dreaming, it's abstract imagery made up by your mind to hypnotize you into sleeping. After HI comes more clear-alike- dreamscenes. Wich can tend to become real dreams if your good at not becoming too aware of your situation and the dreamscene changes / ends.

And it doesn't neccessarily have to take 30mins+ differs from person to person and how tired the person is who's doin the WILD. And if your very tired It can be hard to judge time since if one is too tired the person can fall asleep without knowing it and just think that he's been lying there ( awake )

And third of all. No we do dream all the time, the thing with REM sleep is that, that's when your not sleeping as heavily as during non-rem sleep. wich is why REM sleeps makes it easier for us to notice wheather it is a dream or not. While none-rem sleep your stil dreaming but prolly too deeply to become aware of your situation, as with recalling ( deep sleep = hard to remember the dream )

If someone notices anything wrong with my response here, please correct me. =]

Well, that's the trick now isn't it. This is the hard part of a WILD, to go from transition to an actually Lucid Dream. I havent succeeded yet myself, but been close. too close really. Thing is that with time and practice you gain control over your emotions while trying to WILD, when I for the first time managed to come to TransitionPhase i got overexcited and my breathing increased and i just became more and more aware. Wich results in a failed WILD, the hard part of this is to actually remain calm and not awaken yourself more since that's probably gonna end up in a failed WILD.

So, best tip i can give you is. Keep on trying and have in mind before attempting that, try not to think of the process while in transition. Just... Go with the flow and try to interact with the scenes that appear to you.

      Good luck!
      Lucid, my way of life.

I just want to note that I've had a LOT of LDs during naps, and so have many others. In fact, I completed this month's advance task during an afternoon nap. Napping seems to be an excellent way to chase LDs.

There are people who are able to LD immediately upon falling asleep, and I've had several (though not a lot) at night much earlier than the "usual" phases of sleep before REM onset.

As far as going from HI to LDs, I have great difficulty with it. It is such a delicate balance between "letting go" and losing consciousness (and lucidity) and waking up. It's a delicate dance. Keep trying and it will happen. Try not to get mad!

It will surprise you the first time it works - you will probably wake yourself. But then you'll know... and the next time will be easier. Keep practicing. The fact that you maintained consciousness into HI is most of the hard part! You are very close.

However, there are those of us that're sux0r at WILDs, and dreams during naps! I happen to be one of those ._. One clue that you're getting close, or in HI, is when you start having odd, dream-like daydreams, just as you're about to lose consciousness. I've been able to notice these a lot more lately. They're nearly always about things you wouldnt normally daydream about. For example, I once had one that was of me, playing counterstrike source, but the level was a bit different, and I was completely uninterested in the game, at the time, so seemed illogical to be daydreaming about it.

Lol. I've never really daydreamed before, so I guess it's a start... I haven't really had a chance to work on LDing or WILDing, but I'll try more during this weekend.

EDIT: In addition, I've somewhat figured out that WILDs work best after waking up and walking around, or at about 12:00...
