      Unhappy

      hey guys,
recently, ive been having trouble getting lucid. im a natural WILDer, and that is how pretty much all of mine are induced. im on a cold streak, but last night i woke up, then i felt someting get onto my bed. it shuffled around, i didnt look up to check what it was. i knew that i couldnt see it. there was this noise, almost like static/feedback. i thought it was a ghost. then i froze! i couldnt move, i was paralyzed. i tried, and couldnt. this happened twice, and after the second i could move again. i did a reality check (nose,) and i was awake...guess i woke up during that, right? Please help

Its completely normal. We all go through it unconsciously every time we sleep. You were aware of it happening is all. Nothing to worry about. Its actually supposed to be quite handy for WILDs.

I'm guessing the thing you felt on your bed was the phenomenon of the Old Hag. Again its nothing to worry about whatever it is. Most people believe its a semi-sleep induced hallucination thing I think. It happens to people in sleep paralysis so people used to believe its a evil witch or some such who paralysed them so she can do her evil stuff on them. Succubus I think they're called, they paralyse you first and then make love to you, so its not all bad.

Your reality check said you were awake because you were, but your body was asleep. Just ignore the weird things and try to WILD if you want. If you want to wake up your body, concentrate on just moving your big toe first and then the rest of your body should wake up pretty quick I think. Just like Uma Thurman does in Kill Bill you know, when she's in the Pussy Wagon.

Sleep paralysis is a completly normal and healthy function of the sleeping body.

The main purpose of it is to keep you from acting out your dreams while you are asleep. Can you imagine how dangerous it would be if we weren't paralyzed during some of our dreams??

Sometimes when we wake up, we gain consciousness before the sleep paralysis is gone. A lot of people panic if they've never experienced it before. But it's not dangerous - so don't panic. Just try to relax and it will pass shortly.

Don't try to fight it off, keep in mind it will last for only a few minutes. If you want to regain your motor functions more quickly, you could try to concentrare and move your toes or fingers.

Sleep paralysis sucks (or something very close to it).

I've started getting "it" recently when I have a false awakening. I try to do a reality check but I just feel so tired and relaxed I just can't move my arm (breathing check works 100% for me) to try and end up falling back asleep.

I don't think it's sleep paralysis, as I'm still asleep - any ideas?

Well, if you're really concerned about staying in this state for too long then I'd suggest trying to wake yourself up by moving your extremities - like other people said. If not, just relax hold out for a few moments until the phase passes and you can complete a WILD. Don't be scared of it, it's a natural thing that happens every night to everyone, and it's not harmful.

I'm surprised you say you are a natural WILDer but don't know what Sleep Paralysis is

I guess WILDs really do vary from person to person.

Anyway, Sleep Paralysis isn't harmful. It can definently be scary, but after you induce it a few times your fear of it will drop significantly.

No need to worry, sleep paralysis is completely normal. You were probably experiencing intruder sleep paralysis. While experiencing intruder SP you may hallucinate, hallucinations entail a threatening presence and include voices, footsteps, apparitions, and physical sensations on the body as if you were being touched. Thankfuly the only time I personally experienced SP, It was vestibular-motor. (Generally LDs are generated through VM sp.)

      Thanks for all the replies!

actually, i was told i was a natural WILDer. i havent had that many LD's, but when i do, they are induced through what i understand to be WILDing...but yea, from what i read im also suprised that i havent experienced it before.
if you guys have any methods that you use all the time, and they work a better percentage than not, please post them. im willing to learn...

      THANKS

Usually the paralysis I get only lasts for a few seconds, and comes with a falling feeling & loud whistle. After that it's a WILD.

I have had a few successfull WILD's, but never really experienced SP.

But last night I had a weird feeling which may have been SP. I had trouble falling asleep since I slept untill the afternoon after a wild saturday, but at last when I began to doze off, I suddenly felt like my whole body was shutting down, legs, arms, breathing, etc.
A weird sensation, but I got paranoid and I was sure I was dying and this it how it felt like, so I forced myself awake, but afterwards when I came to my senses, I'm sure I could have WILD'ed..

      was this SP?

SP and WILD go together like a hand and glove for me. I never experienced one without the other. Just look at it as if WILD is the launch pad for Lucid Dreams and SP is the Gateway to the Launchpad.
