One of my favorite RCs is the finger through palm technique. I'm wondering though my cousin brought up an interesting thought last night. He asked me if when dreaming he put his finger through his palm would it just phase through like a ghost does through solid matter, or would it be like getting your hand literally impaled and there be blood spurting out and whatnot. It's kinda got me worried 0_0; I'm not real big on blood and guts however, I really like this reality check. I dislike the idea of trying it in a lucid state and then all of the sudden get a face full of blood as my finger impales my hand like a nailgun.

I hear that a lot of people here use this reality check, have you ever done it in a dream and had that kind of effect? or will it be the ghost-ish thing?

I suppose it's all the luck of the draw if this happens. Perhaps by worrying about it, it's more likely to happen? Personally I'm not much of an fan of this technique alone, it's nice to make sure after a check fails however, but when I have used it it's eiither gone though like a ghost or just hit my palm, like in real life.

Hmmm, is it not 100% accurate? you said that it would just bounce off like it normally does. Does this mean that it does that while dreaming sometimes? I have about 3 or 4 different checks just in case one fails, but how likely is the first one to fail?

Last night I had an LD, I tried this technique and it didn't work! Luckily the nose plug technique worked for me and I realised I was dreaming.

I've heard about the finger throught the palm technique, but I just don't trust it. I mean, just because you're dreaming doesn't mean your finger is actually gonna go through your palm. It works for some, but it might not for others.

That's why I like the digital watch technique...It has NEVER failed me. Every time i do a RC in my dream I become lucid. Sure, one day it may fail, but with a current record of 100%, I'll take my chances ;P
