Okay... Let's try and make a list of things you can't do while LD... if anything...
The issue is, its hard to say where the limits are...

The only thing that I know you can't do is change lighting... hmm..

Not only can I change lighting, (most of the time) but I can turn night into day and vice versa.

You can't (as far as I know) make your waking-world body stick its middle finger up in the air.

I believe the limits of LDing is not a matter of can and cant, its a matter of if you really believe it can be done. As far as the middle finger/waking world example, that would be a body thing not a ld thing

Theoretically, nothing is impossible in an LD. It's a only matter of practice and willpower.

One thing i tried during my last LDs is is talking through another DC, like being deep in my head and having my inner thoughts expressed through another person, at the same time.

The last time i tried, some DC spoke complete gibberish, eying me very seriously. It was somewhat funny and weird. I'll just keep trying until i get it.

Lol. I was only being a smart ass.
In the way that I meant it, though, it's an LD thing.

Perhaps not a question of what is impossible, but rather that cannot generally be done in the average dream without extreme difficulty.

I seem to have picked up on the following in my career of reading about LDs (and occasionally experiencing them):

      * Using a light switch; which is a special case of -

      * Using electronic appliances, computers etc., to any successful degree; they usually malfunction, or perform poorly, for me and I've heard of others having the same difficulty.

      * Reading (giving rise to several RCs of course).

As you can guess, I can't think of much more; LDs are of course not lacking in their possibilities.

What about 360 degree vision? Yes, I did steal that idea from waking life!

Yes, but you might want to wear a nappy just in case

When I went to pee in a dream as a young child it was a bad omen indeed. But now that I'm a big boy I seem to go often in my dreams with no adverse affect (although quite why you'd want to spend a lucid dream on the bog is beyond my comprehension).

Lately I been having problems getting a DC's attention. No matter how hard I try, they never notice me unless they strike up a convo with me. Usually those are the ones I don't want to talk to. Go figure.

Eh, I guess overall what I can't do is more of like what I've never tried to do so far since most of the things I've tried have gone right, but here's what I have yet to do properly-

      Find my DreamGuide
      Eat peanuts
      Time Dialation
      Transformation

That's really it, unless you consider perfecting things a failure since I have yet to perfect them [ohh, repetition] that'd include teleporting and summoning people.

I can't seem to stay in the lucid dream, asleep, for as long as I want. Something always wakes me or I lose lucidity.

Just one time, I'd like to decide to end the dream rather than give in to losing it.

I'll certainly agree with the reading being difficult. With text's instability, it's my most utilized RC. Even when I'm lucid I still love the allure of the transforming text.

A challenge I've been trying to conquer lately is the handing of a special rose to a wonderful woman I know. I keep either finding her and fail to produce the rose (or gain lucidity) or I run around with this rose and can't seem to produce her. I'd really love to meet this challenge for my own satisfaction. I've failed at least 6 times now.

Oddly enough, I've never even tried the illumination alteration test - even though I've known about it for years now. From what I've read, it seems to be hit and miss for the average LDer.

Flying seems to be something that's extremely easy for some, and nearly impossible for others. I've only tried doing it once, but I couldn't get it to work.

Heh, I might as well make a list of the things I can and can't do, since I've only had one real LD:

      Can do:
      - float
      - talk to DC's
      - "dream spin"
      - explore dream places
      - jump really high

      Can't do:
      - fly
      - use light switches
      - summon things
      - find my dream guide

I don't know why I can't do some of these things. Part of it is probably due to the placebo effect, but some of it almost definitely isn't. Light switches, for example... in real life, I have nearly absolute faith that a light is going to turn on when I flip a switch... so why doesn't it work when I do it in a dream?

      I can (easily):
      *Fly
      *Breath fire
*Manipulate light (ie. Move the sun)
*Have a reasonable conversation with dream characters
*Eat a dream character (long story )

      Can't:
      *Transform
      *Find my dream guide
      *Use a light switch
      *Read a book
      *Wake up at will

I can do things like summon objects but i need to have high lucidity and even then it's touchy..
The most memorable one was when a truck was heading for me, and i just spawned another truck in-front of me to protect me, i woke up when the trucks collided.

In a sense you can affect real life because you do have eye control while in lucid state. So you can at least "communicate" with the outside world by way of predetermined eye patterns. Not to mention the feeling of satisfaction that carries over into waking life. We can even practice real-life skills while lucid.

So while our influence on the real world seems very limited, it is there - to some extent.

I don't know if i'm the only one, But I can.
In fact it was just last night, I was in my bathroom, I was lucid, So I gave it a shot. I pulled and it didn't work. I thought to myself, "hmm, it must be true that you cant adjust the lighting". But just in case, I pulled it again, and it started to flicker. I pulled once more, and it came on.
It took a little bit of concentration, but it was easy

Has anyone else been able to turn on lights?
