I'm guessing you haven't been on for a few years, but since this dead thread has been revived I'll post in case any random beginner checks it out <.<

I'd say work on increasing recall. You may not remember all of the dream, and so you may not have memory of each moment of lucidity.
Try the stability/control techniques. Rubbing hands, spinning, shouting certain phrases as yuriy mentioned..check out the tutorial section for help on control.
As for the actual content of the lucid...not amazed/excited? If an ld is boring, it's because of you..there are so many things to do, you're just lacking ideas You can get plenty by searching the forums.

Yeah I think what happens is I get too overwhelmed and I can't think of what to do. My plan now is to have tasks lined out beforehand.... Also, a theory I have is that if one feels sleepy, unmotivated etc... in thier lucid dream its' probably because thier mind in real life is re-energized and ready to wake up. And when one has very vivid and energetic lucids it's because thier physical mind still needs rest...

on that particular morning I had already slept for 9 hours and was forcing myself to LD

interesting. I find that most of my lucids occur at around 4-5 am, later ones are usually not as vivid but need more time to pay attention to this before drawing any conclusions.
TAKE DV members advice with caution! some have had zero or 1-2 LD's yet act like gurus

yeah, it's just a theory, but it makes sense. I've had lucids at 4-6am and they are VERY vivid, while the ones I have at 8-10 are harder to control, blurry etc... I can never lucid during naps either, although I havn't tried a whole lot
