OK, I'm no too sure whether this would be under Research Team, Induction Techniques, or whatever, so I decided it has a good place in the General LDing section (Mods, if it needs to be moved, move it ).

So anyway, I remembered awhile back I bought seasons 1,3, and 4 of ATHF, a great show btw. One day i was sick and had one of the discs playing and soon dozed off, as the dream started i was in my room, with ATHF playing on the TV, and of course the show was weird enough to make me wonder whether im dreaming or not, RC positive...
Then after an hour of being awake, i dozed off again, same exact scenario, I saw some weird ass Aqua Teen on my TV and wondered whether or not i was dreaming, then everything became very vivid.
This reminded me of something I read on wikipedia when i first started LDing, it was an induction technique called aural focusing (like WILDing) in which you stay up until you are exhaused and have to fall asleep, while listening to a TV playing, and as you fall asleep you focus on the noises from the TV and imagine yourself doing something (i think the example on the wiki was climbing stairs) until you enter the dream, and in the dream you usually find yourself where you fell asleep, but upon looking at the TV there is something wrong with it and you realize your dreaming.
But heres the twist to this aural focusing technique (which is no longer on the LDing wiki), go to sleep (preferably an afternoon nap like i did) while watching a very..."abstract" show (like aqua teen) and see if you A) awake in your room/near a TV in the dream, B) Notice if the weird show is playing on the TV (in a dream however, the characters may be floating off the screen or some parts of it may look like theyre paused while others are moving), and C)Become lucid after using the TV as means of an RC.

      BUMP

Even though it seems like nobody cares, I tried it again and heres what happened

I fell asleep around 10 minutes into the disc, and when my dream began i was in my bed, my room was pretty bright (brighter than IRL, considering it was raining and dark outside), and i looked at the TV. Meatwad was on the screen but not moving, and Carl and Shake were both holding a hose and moving around with it. I thought it was weird but didnt pay much attention and didn't even RC (D'oh&#33, and the dream continued for about 20 minutes (felt like 20 minutes) and i woke up and looked at the tv, RCd when i saw it but i was awake . next time i get the chance i'm gonna try this again, i feel like i could be getting somewhere here (even though noones interested )

Carl is my favorite character from that show.

It sounds to me like you're doing the equivilant of listening to one of those tapes that is supposed to teach you spanish or something while you sleep.

Wonder if I could sleep through a recording, and what my dreams would be like. Could make various soundtracks to try to induce various stuff.

ya, im pretty much trying to see if external stimuli (trying to sound smart ) will be carried over into the dream world...and im using a show like this because its awesome! (and its been working most of the time so far).

Also, can someone tell me whether or not it is possible to dream in the first stages of sleep? I've only done this with afternoon naps but im wondering if i fall asleep to it at night will it not matter because we dont dream until later in the night?

A morning or two ago, right after I'd woken up, I heard a mosquito buzzing around in my room, and almost did this. It was a very strange experience. Like, I was laying there, listening to the mosquito, and it seemed like I could see through my eyelids, but everything was smudgy. I almost made into the dream, but I lost it for some reason, as I seem to always do.
