Was hoping to get some people to complete a survey for my psych class (LD related). Please help!!!

So basically the backstory here is we were allowed to pick any topic related to something we've already done for a study project. Since I've been interested in LD's for the past 3 years already, I figured Lucid Dreaming was a good topic to pick.

3 weeks later, this project has taken me a lifetime to finish. I'm doing this for an online course so I can finish high school (graduated 2 years ago but still 2 credits short, long story) but I'm also working full time so it's been difficult balancing the two. Once I get this survey completed though, I'm done! Yay!

So I'm hoping to get AT LEAST 10 people to complete this, it's only 7 questions so it shouldn't take more then 5-10 minutes of your time and you can consider it a good deed for someone.

      1. What purpose do you see in Lucid dreaming?

      2. Have you ever experienced negative effects (headaches, memory loss etc) after having a LD?

      3. Likewise, have you ever experienced any positive effects after having a Lucid Dream?

      4. Does Lucid Dreaming improve your life in any way?

      5. Does it disprove your life in any way?

      6. How do you prepare for a Lucid Dreaming?

      7. How long have you been attempting Lucid Dreaming?

My eternal greatfulness to anyone who helps me out on this!

      Sure.

      1. What purpose do you see in Lucid dreaming?
I lucid dream mainly for sight seeing. I've explored shipwrecks, hanging gardens... It can also be used for a sexual release during a dryspell.

      2. Have you ever experienced negative effects (headaches, memory loss etc) after having a LD?
Occasionally I'm more tired after a lucid dream since my mind didn't rest as much as it usually does.

      3. Likewise, have you ever experienced any positive effects after having a Lucid Dream?
Because of reality checking I'm much more receptive of things around me and can remember more details from my life.

      4. Does Lucid Dreaming improve your life in any way?
Woman like that I can remember details about things: Remember our first date? Oh yeah, when you were wearing the sexy red dress and had the buttefly clip in your hair?

      5. Does it disprove your life in any way?
No way that I've seen yet.

      6. How do you prepare for a Lucid Dreaming?
Just putting a piece of paper and pen next to my bed so that I can write it down while I'm still in a daze.

      7. How long have you been attempting Lucid Dreaming? a year and a half ago I ran into it and was successful once, but recently it came back to me so about a month. This time around I'm having much more success.

My eternal greatfulness to anyone who helps me out on this!

1- Personally (not universally) it has several purposes. Fun, self exploration, an interesting experience, going beyond the boundries of 'normal life'
2- Not really. Unless you count reduced amount of sleep due to waking up automatically during the night
3- Plenty. Generally LDs give me a feeling of satisfaction and I find myself to wake up with more energy.
4- It certainly makes it more interesting!
      5- Don't think so.
6- Don't prepare too much. I try to be generally aware during the day but most my LDs are WILDs, particularly reentering a dream in the middle of the night which is really in the spur of the moment so..
7- Hmm, well Ive been doing it for years and years but I guess I actively got into researching it about 4-5 years ago, just before DV forum launched

Aw man, you guys rule, thanks for this. Just a couple more people and I should be good to go.

Although technically, I guess I can answer one as myself, haha. My hypothesis for this was whether lucid dreaming can affect your brain in a negative or positive way. I already know the answer (or atleast think I do) but I was in a rush when I came up with it. =P

      Nope

      3. Likewise, have you ever experienced any positive effects after having a Lucid Dream?

Always feel invigorated and more alive! I also feel more connected to the world around me and more at peace with everything.

      4. Does Lucid Dreaming improve your life in any way?

Absolutely, again, it gives you insight into your subconsious.

      5. Does it disprove your life in any way?

Not that I have experienced, well, I guess it has taken time away I should have been spending with my family or working.

      6. How do you prepare for a Lucid Dreaming?

Performing reality checks during the day, doing affirmations before bed or during the night.

      7. How long have you been attempting Lucid Dreaming?

Have been lucid dreaming for over 15 years so far.

      1. What purpose do you see in Lucid dreaming?
I see opportunity to save that one third of my life that would be lost to confusing dilusions and even in time use it as a practice ground to help me practice speeches or things like that.

      2. Have you ever experienced negative effects (headaches, memory loss etc) after having a LD?
      No

      3. Likewise, have you ever experienced any positive effects after having a Lucid Dream?
No but this one time non-lucidly I got high in a dream and woke up high.

      4. Does Lucid Dreaming improve your life in any way?
Probably makes me less reckless in real life because I can exhaust all my crazy energy.

      5. Does it disprove your life in any way?
      No.

      6. How do you prepare for a Lucid Dreaming?
I keep a dream journal and take notes every morning pointing out all the things that only recur in dreams. That's it because I don't have the time to try WILDing or anything like that right now.

      7. How long have you been attempting Lucid Dreaming?
About a year now, and I've had like 40 since then.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

      1. What purpose do you see in Lucid dreaming?

As to not waste 24 years of my life doing nothing. LDing helps you live out those years.

      2. Have you ever experienced negative effects (headaches, memory loss etc) after having a LD?

      Nope.

      3. Likewise, have you ever experienced any positive effects after having a Lucid Dream?

Of cource I have. As in a normal dream, you wake up totally refreshed. Plus, lucid dreams are quite fun. They let you do anything you have ever dreamed, no matter how impossible they are.

      4. Does Lucid Dreaming improve your life in any way?

Besides feeling like I have total control over my dreams, no.

      5. Does it disprove your life in any way?

      No.

      6. How do you prepare for a Lucid Dreaming?

Ever since I was little, I would wake up about an hour into my REM cycle to get a drink from a glass above my bed. This habbit has progressed with me into my present years, which makes me the perfect person for a DEILD (Dream Exiting Initiated Lucid Dream). Whenever I wake up in the night, I keep my body totally still, allowing myself to enter Sleep Paralysis. After the speep paralysis stage, I usually end up in a false awakening, where I do a reality check. Doing random reality checks through out the day also helps.

      7. How long have you been attempting Lucid Dreaming?

      Two years.

      1. What purpose do you see in Lucid dreaming?
Mainly fun, however I would also like to use it to improve myself; ie. practice sport moves etc.

      2. Have you ever experienced negative effects (headaches, memory loss etc) after having a LD?
Not after having an LD, but I now sometimes wonder whether a memory from a while ago was a dream or not. I generally can work it out after several seconds.

      3. Likewise, have you ever experienced any positive effects after having a Lucid Dream?
Yes. Fun. A sense of acheivement for being able to teach myself a new skill.

      4. Does Lucid Dreaming improve your life in any way?
I suppose it would enrich your life, however I haven't really felt that. It did introduce me to the DreamViews community which has been great.

      5. Does it disprove your life in any way?
      No.

      6. How do you prepare for a Lucid Dreaming?
Go to bed any time I like. set my alarm for 41/2 and 6 hours later. Wake up, record my dreams, perform an LD technique.

      7. How long have you been attempting Lucid Dreaming?
      3 and a half months

      1. What purpose do you see in Lucid dreaming?

Lucid dreaming is fun. It's especially great because it doesn't cut into any other fun activity time. You do it while you sleep! Another main thing that compeled me to pursue lucid dreams is mind exploration. I want to know more about myself and studying my dreams is a great way to do that, in my opinion : )

      2. Have you ever experienced negative effects (headaches, memory loss etc) after having a LD?

      Never.

      3. Likewise, have you ever experienced any positive effects after having a Lucid Dream?

When you wake up from a lucid dream you have an extreme sense of accomplishment. You feel rested. You wake up in a good mood (which is always a good thing).

      4. Does Lucid Dreaming improve your life in any way?

Besides the fact of making my boring life a little more interesting and unpredictable, it helps me understand myself and my emotions better. Plus, it's an interesting conversation starter.

      5. Does it disprove your life in any way?

      Nope.

      6. How do you prepare for a Lucid Dreaming?

Recently I haven't done much. Occasionally, I type a few dreams up on the computer, do a few random reality checks, and lurk the Dreamviews forum, but other than that I just take them as they come. No extra effort put into them.

In regards to what I do before I go to bed, I usually watch a little bit of TV and tell myself as I'm falling asleep that I will become lucid or that I will remember my dreams upon waking (which is actually pretty hard for me).

      7. How long have you been attempting Lucid Dreaming?

Almost half a year now. Maybe a little over that.

      1. What purpose do you see in Lucid dreaming?

To try things I couldn't in real life, have fun, and make better use of time spent asleep.

      2. Have you ever experienced negative effects (headaches, memory loss etc) after having a LD?

      No, none at all.

      3. Likewise, have you ever experienced any positive effects after having a Lucid Dream?

I feel more rested, awake, and happy after I wake up from a lucid dream.

      4. Does Lucid Dreaming improve your life in any way?

It allows me to make better use of my time asleep, and makes nightmares less frightening (since they cause me to become lucid, and then I know they can't hurt me.

      5. Does it disprove your life in any way?

No, not in any noticeable way.

      6. How do you prepare for a Lucid Dreaming?

Dozens of reality checks throughout the way, a strong expectation to lucid dream, and being sure to get enough sleep.

      7. How long have you been attempting Lucid Dreaming?

About six months, but I tried it a little about a year before that.

      1. What purpose do you see in Lucid dreaming?
I see LDing as a for of self discipline, and as a way to develop awareness. The endless possiblilities of dreams at your command is pretty appealing too.

      2. Have you ever experienced negative effects (headaches, memory loss etc) after having a LD?
      No.

      3. Likewise, have you ever experienced any positive effects after having a Lucid Dream?
THere is always the satisfaction of haveing accomplished a lucid dream, but more than that, lucids just seem more fulfilling than other dreams.

      4. Does Lucid Dreaming improve your life in any way?
      no

      5. Does it disprove your life in any way?
Well, most people I tell about it think I'm nuts. And dreaming practices interupt my sleep, leaving me tired.

      6. How do you prepare for a Lucid Dreaming?
Reality check, but most of all, just wanting it really bad.

      7. How long have you been attempting Lucid Dreaming?
      15 years
