Thread: DV Meetup???

well, first you need to find people who are willing to do some traveling, and who are all in the same vicinity. I started a DV map a while back on Frappr.

It's about time there was another "convention" soon. I got plenty of vacation time to use up - I'm in. Where to?

Well i'm in the UK and i know theres alot of people in the US, i'm going on holiday with my parents to Vancouver for a week in the summer, then driving down to San Francisco for about 4 days and then up to Yosemite for about 3 days, however it would be selfish for it to abide around my times, i doubt it would anyways but thats when i'm in the states, i think its late July timethis year, and its short notice.

last I checked there were users from literally around the globe

Lol, i know that but i just assumed that the US would be the ideal place since most of the users come from their i think, i don't know, i didn't think things through did i

lmao, i live in teh us, but don't travel...

The only problem with the US is that we are so spread out. I mainly look for groups of DV'ers to meet up with when I am travelling on business.

Hmmm, well its a thought for the future, i'm no good at organising things but maybe organise something say a year in advance so people can make arrangements, its just an idea though, i probably wouldn't be trusted to organise it anyways due to my age, lol, well if anything does come up please let me know because i'll most likely be interested Thanks Seeker

The biggest obstacles to an officially organized event are:

1) The member is under 18 and cannot travel feely
2) The member is over 18, but has family, school, or job committments and cannot travel freely

That really only leaves a very small number of members that can meet up. Most of the time, it's just a hand full of members that meet up at a time.

I wish we could all have a big DV meetup. How cool would it be to have a DV flash-mob show up in the Mall of America and shout "ARE YOU DREAMING???" at the stroke of noon???

Yeah, I suggested a DV convention a while ago. It would be so incredible. Sigh...

I wish something like that were to be organised, i would be awesome, but i tell you, if i win the lottery, i'd pay the fares for flights and hotel fee's for each and every member who wanted to do it!

Quick question: Do you play the lottery? If not how do you intend on winning it? I want in on this scheme of free money of yours.

I wonder how many of us would actually hate each other in real life. Not that I'm a "hater" but, surely, we wouldn't all get along.

Well, I don't know, maybe I'm underestimating people in general. I've got to stop doing that.

Well, since it seems that this site is lacking Alberta members, I'm pretty much out.

Goldney, i do play the lottery sometimes, when i have a spare £, no free money though, i would just pay for plane tickets and accomodation and food etc, the chances of it happening are even slimmer lol.

Oneironaught i agree with you on this one, not everyone will get on, on here you can PM each other and have no problems but when in person things can be different, but i suppose actually meeting everyone would be pretty cool anyway whether people hate each other or not.

Lucid_Seeker , I live in the UK too , I know about 4 ,5 other people on DV who live in the UK , maybe we can all meet sometime , somewhere close to all of us. I'm in the southwest , where abouts are u from?

That sounds like a nice idea! Of course we can't gather everyone, but only in the UK we could get a couple of people... If you do win think of your compatriots too :-)

If i win i'm aiming for the £6 million area lol and i would spend about 2 million towards lucid dreaming stuff and you lot since i think this is such an awesome forum.

Virtuozo i think that would be a good idea, there are quite a few people here in the UK, i myself live about 20 miles out from Manchester up north, we need to gather some people, travel to down south would be hard for me, i don't have too much money atm (until i win the lottery ) maybe we can sort something out, would be cool indeed. But i still think a gathering of all DV members would be awesome!

While that's all true and possible, I really shouldn't have even said that. Too often in life I fear the worst in people and, damn, that's a rotten attitude. I honestly dislike no one here at Dreamviews. I was only over-generalizing Human nature and betting the odds. Still, it was a p!ss-poor thought for me to have shared.

I don't think you were thinking negatively, you were thinkin more realisticly, not everyone gets on well in person but in contradiction to my other post i'd be surprised if there was a large majority that didn't get on, its such a friendly community and i'm sure we will get along fine, thats if any of us ever meet.
