      I need flying lessons...

      score! My first lucid dream....

I was aiming for a WILD and followed the procedure detailed on this site. But it took too long, and I gave up. As soon as I gave up I slipped into a short, neat little dream:
I was at school (high school) and it was lunch. For some reason I had knives on me and I was kind of tossing one of them up and down in my hand while walking to the snack bar. Apparently this girl saw me with it and turned me in But while the police were on their way I told her I would get rid of them. I remember being really nervous when the police arrived, but she told them she made a mistake. *heuff.* I was walking away from the scene, and feeling very relieved, when I realized I was dreaming. (YES!)

I saw my friend Jake at this point and proclaimed, "hey Jake I'm having a lucid dream!" And he said, "oh, cool man." So I thought to myself, what should I do? First thing that came to mind of course was flying. So I started running and sort of jumped, but it didn't work! After a few attempts I started to feel kind of a pull of transcending gravity.

Unfortunatley Jake was still with me, and trying to fly, but was too stoned. This sort of threw off my lucidity. Then somebody said something in another room and I woke up.

      AWESOME!
      Anybody else have trouble flying?

Congratulations on your first lucid dream! :bravo:

Honestly I fly without even thinking about it.. I simply have NO DOUBT that I can. I either start running at full speed, leap into the air and think "up" or I jump into the air from someplace high.

Believe that flying is possible and it will happen!

Change the viscosity of the air to that of water and swim through it.

I like to pretend that I'm superman, or imagine that my feet are like rockets and they propel me around.

All you have to do is throw yourself at the ground and miss.

OK, since believing you can without a doubt is pretty hard when you've been proven otherwise, simply knowing it is possible and persevering can be enough - though since that failed too in your case, I guess that makes me a hypocrite or something. Oops.

Anyway, what I usually do sort of unconciously is concentrate on simply keeping myself in the air, and once I'm past that bit flying's often no problem. I will myself in the air - don't will the air to pull you up, use your will to push down on the ground. You can think of it as a kind of solid object if it helps, but that might make you feel heavy. It's a little hard to explain, because the will I use isn't solid, but not liquid or air either. Magic, I guess.

If you're a star wars fan, perhaps you could use the Force.

Most importantly, if you feel any fear/doubt while you're up there, try and shove it away ASAP. Ignore it. Make it go away in any way you can. Distract yourself with something shiny. Or something.

I did but i learned to glid a bit. i cant get feet into the air than i float back down. i kinda super jump. iver heard two very easy ways to learn to fly.

      1) go ask a dc to teach you how to fly
      2) jump off a very high spot and fly away

"superjumping" is pretty much what I naturally thought would work. It started to actually. I felt like as I got really high in the air I lost my sense of gravity. It probably would have worked had I not been awaken.
I can't wait to try again in my next lucid...

and I just bought laberge's book, so hopefully that will be soon.
(actually I stumbled upon a signed copy in a used book store earlier this afternoon!)
