What is the first thing you see when you close your eyes?

I see this as on topic, so here it goes. Personally, I'm blessed/cursed with an intense concentration of purple dots in the direct center of my blank field of view, while other fainter, and nameless, shapes and colors come and go.

I generally use these dots as a way to clear my mind, although they always appear, needed or not.

Hard to describe, like curtains of light that expand and contract. Sometimes purple, sometimes white.
They move across my field of vision or sometimes contract to a point and vanish.
Watching them will put me out almost instantly.

      Hm

Myself, when I first close my eyes, I tend to become very fixated on a certain fantasy, vision, situation, etc.

I actually have an immense sleeping disorder.. and I find the only way for me to effectively fall asleep is to become intently focused upon a fantasy or a deep train of thought. Thus, what I see before I sleep, is typically faint images of what I am intently thinking about.

There have been othertimes that I see a simply vast emptiness with lights every now and then, like the sky at night. But then again, that could just be the street lights above me when I'm sleeping in the streets,

So, in conclusion, I simply see faint images before I go to sleep.

I see the EXACT same thing only purple and yellowish green!

white and blue light in the form of tiny dots that form matrices grids tunnles often expanding to something that looks like i am sitting in deep space, if I focus the dots form images that become solid, the more asleep i get the more vivid they become

Complete darkness and a twisty, curvy, almost surreal, staircase spiraling downward at a breakneck speed... That's the very first thing I see when I close my eyes.

Wow, am I the party-crasher here, or what? Go me with the happy imagery! Woot!

...it's like staring at a blank computer screen in the dark... you can just barely see the screen refreshing... It's like a constant refreshing and little white dots(formed from RGB dots) seem to pervade over the screen every time it refreshes... sort of what it looks like. It very much makes me think of a blank computer screen though. You know how when you watch the news or some other not-so-edited form of tv and it shows a monitor or a tv on the tv, and you can see the refresh rate? like little bars travelling up and down the tv? it sort of looks like that...

I figured the small amount of light coming through a person's eyelids would look about the same to everyone... but it's difficult to describe and very abstract, so you ask ten different people and you get ten different answers.

For me: the longer I look, the more empty it looks. At first it's like a black screen directly in front of me, but if I keep looking, it's more like a spacious dark room.

Even if it is the exact same visually for all of us, our perceptions would make us describe it slightly differently.. I think... especially since... well... it's hard to describe dude...

      see?

I usually see a multi-colored downward spiral, but in order to enter lucidity right away, I have to consciously imagine a landscape or an object while also consciously relaxing my body... The spiral thing tends to be very lulling and just sends me into unconscious-land (no recall) -until I hit an REM stage.

Ok I have an experiment for everyone to try, please. This isnt about closing your eyes but is very similar. Stare at a light bulb, anyone will do, but stair at it for about 30 seconds, stare intently until you kind of feel it change. Now choose a point on a wall in the same room and stair at that exact same point! dont shift your eyes, tell me what you see? I find that when i do this I can create perfect PURPLE circle that looks as if it could just be colored into the wall itself. Its very weird because I dont know why the color purple or why a circle???? It always happens exactly the same too, someone try this and tell me what you see please

I think the purple comes from your eye trying to compensate for the yellow light.

Purple is yellow's complement. If you stare at one color for long enough, you'll begin to see spots of its complement. Looking at a very bright light will speed this up.

Anyone who has a purple light: try staring at it and see if you start seeing yellow spots! It should work.

Mines in the shape of a droplet. And if you move closer or farther to the wall, it'll grow and shrink (at least relitive to the wall).
