      Myth busting time!!!

Soo.. I have heard a number of myths..well ok 2 or three..that 'they' ( you know the smart people) say will induce nightmares.

I say myths because I don't believe it..but others swear by it. And the funny thing is that when I do these things I do get nightmares!!! I still don't believe it though and I think i only get nightmares because its already in my head.

Anyways the myths are..ton tara ton...

      1) Wearing black to bed will induce nightmares. ( I swear I get a nightmare everytime I wear black to sleep)

      2) Eating right before bed.

      3) Being on medication.

      4) Being sick

      5) Drinking coffee or ingesting any type of caffeine before bed.

Now the black shirt and eating before bed have affected my dreams before. I dont know if it was because it was in m y head and its a mental thing..if its just coincidence that everytime I do have a nightmare I either ate right before bed or I had on a black shirt?? I dunno.

But I would really love some opinions and personal stories regarding this topic.

      Thanks!
Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.

To deny may be just as dangerous and misleading as to accept.

The mind is a powerful thing. I think most of the things that claim to induce lucids work because we expect them to work. The placebo effect. However, some foods, and medications do increase brain activity, so they might hold some ground, but nothing is 100% reliable.
Why does it seem so hard to wake up now and see who we really are?

      1) I wear black to bed quite often I have black basketball shorts and a few black shirts I have worn to bed and have never had a nightmare from doing so.

      2) Eating before bed does not effect my dreams very much only that I may wake up during the night or sleep better after doing so.

      3) Medication can have a multitude of effects in the matters of sleep in dreams including making it harder to fall asleep, making it easier fall asleep, making you wake up more often during the night, making your dreams more vivid and clear, making your dreams less vivid and clear, and improving or worsening dream recall.

      4) Being sick can have many of the same effects as number 3).

      5) I always drink coffee before bed, but that's because I go to bed around 7:00 AM to around 2:00 PM. Around 7:00 AM I usually have coffee and go to bed a bit after and I can't say much on the matter of it effecting my dreams I can fall asleep easily and so from my experience it does nothing for my dreaming.

I think with eating it is the fact that you are digesting the food that might cause it, but like you said, it possably is just a myth.

Being sick probably effects you as well ...

I do 2, 3, almost every night, 5 quite often, and 4 is self explanitory. I haven't had a nightmare in almost 2 years.
