      Has this happened to anyone??

The other day I realized I was in a dream without doing anything. I was just walking and without doing a reality check (which is the only method I know of to become lucid) I realized I was dreaming. Then something even more weird happened. After becoming lucid I ran at a car and wrecked it after I gave it a flying kick. Thing was I didn't want to do that, it just happened. Then I thought it was cool so I did it by my own will.

FYI: One thing that does work in case you feel you are waking up is spinning around in circles. I was about to wake up, but I didn't.

Back to the dream, so I started flying, and next thing I knew I was in a market where I bought some guns. I started bragging to my dream characters I could fly, they didn't believe me so I showed them. I even told them they were just a dream. They all freaked out and called the cops on me. This is where another weird thing happened. I lost control of the dream. I ran away and kept dreaming only it was no longer a lucid dream, just a normal dream. Is it normal for this to happen???

It's not too uncommon to just become lucid spontaneously, in fact every lucid dream I've had has basically been spontaneous with no reality checks... From your description I would say you were pretty low level lucid, in which case it's pretty easy to lose lucidity, you have to work to maintain it in the dream. Keep reminding yourself it's a dream and try to think about what you'd do if you had the power while being awake; that's probably the best way to remain lucid and become even more lucid...

      losing control

just to let you know, yes that has happened to me many times while having a lucid dream. I have realized in a dream that i was dreaming and started to try to make certain things happen, sometimes being successful and other times not. and many times i have awoken from realizing that im dreaming which is sometimes hard for me to prevent. I just found this website this morning and have not yet tried the techniques to have a lucid dream yet.. one reason i have become interested in this is one.. of course i would love to live in a world where i had complete control, and 2... lately i have been having lots of nightmares. i think i should try to kick a car like that lol.

HAHAHA. It was kick ass. Everyone should try it. Although it sucks cause you have to wait for a car to come right at you. I tried running towards one but I couldn't cause I got that "running in water" feeling.

About waking up you should spin around in circles, it really works. I don't know if it was part of the dream, which it probably was, I saw my celing fan so I started spinning to avoid waking up, and it worked.

      control

Yes, I've gone sponteously lucid many a time when I was younger. If any of you have happen to have readmy first post "my lucid exepreinces" in the Lucid Experiences topic I would happen in almost every dream i could remeber when I was a child for a period. I found dreamsigns but often it was sudden lucidity outta the blue.

As for running I've had that water feeling too.

One method I've found that works- especially when someone is chasing you- run backwards, facing them. They can't sneak up behind you, and youre really not running, it's more like youre taking quick hops backwards, like if you try to jog backwards in the waking world, except you can take faster, longer leaps in dreams. Plus you can always see how far the creature is from you, instead of turning our back for a moment with them being 20ft away from you and run and suddenly they're in range to grab you from behind.

Plus I've noticed I seem to have almost unilmited endurance and pain resistance in dreams. I can run incredibly fast without tiring, as a few nightmares in my life had me jumping out of my bedroom window to escape down 20ft below onto hard pavement with out spraining or breaking anything.

      running

Oh, as an addendum to my last post there when i said I could run 'incredibly fast without tiring' That was during times when I didn't experience the water effect...

I have incredible agility, also in my dreams, I jumped 50 ft, did a backflip, then kicked a building, making it explode, then landing without a scratch on me.

Boother, that running backwards trick is really interesting! The next time I'm being chased, I'm going to see if I can do it!

All my lucids have been spontaneous like that. I havent even had a LD since I found out what a reality check was lol.

Ive never had a running through water feeling but I would imagine all you would have to do is start swimming. I have started swimming in regular air before and it soon started feeling like water except I knew it was air.

It seems like in most of my lucids my DCs are also powered. I guess its because they are powered that I become lucid though. I never really become lucid in dreams that are just plain and boring. Only in ones that have some kind of action. I dont think I have ever had a dream lucid or not where I was the only one with powers beyond my real life abilities.
I accept that my reality is always a dream so if something changes I know I'm right.

and the losing control thing, that happens to me, I have a LD and then it blacks out and the next thing I know, is that I'm in a non lucid dream xD

Spontaneous lucidity should tell one something.
I had a spontaneous event myelf last night. I was confused as to why during the event. The oddity of it, and the desire to play a bit split my attention. I had nothing planned and no interest in being lucid--yet it happened anyway. Having no interest in it, it did not last long.
I do, however, have a certain belief that lucid dreaming is a form of communication, mostly on levels we are unaware of. Part of the fun is figuring it out--or at least trying to.
