What if LD's where really popular?

Then people hangs signs randomly off buildings "Are you dreaming?". And everyone teaches their kids about it and stuff. So like 90% of people lucid dream and it was really common. Then like the average person over 21 have 3 or more lucid dreams a night. That would be cool.

Yeah! But what would be cooler would be if it became really popular five years from now and we (all of us here at dreamviews) were looked upon as prophets for preaching this incredible concept to the world!

I told another friend at work about it today! At least she didn't look at me like I was some kind of loon!

Most people just say to me "It's just your imagination". Yes, because we all know that you can use your imagination to have just as fun as jumping off a cliff and crushing a bird with your face on the way down... (I simply say that because I accidently ran over a dead bird with my bike today)

If everybody knew about lucid dreams, then the world probably be a better place. But I seriously doubt it will ever become popular because barely anybody would think much of it / believe it.

That is exactly what I was going to say. Lucid dreaming helps give you an open mind; maybe it would help people solve their differences in better ways. Also, I wouldn't mind being a prohpet!

Before you knew about lucid dreaming, do you think you would have believed it if somebody told you?

Would I have believed it? NO. I would have laughed so hard I wouldn't have been able to stand. I was actually just talking to my friend about that exact thing today. If I hadn't had a lucid dream, then looked up this site a day later....I would never have believed a word anyone told me. But hey, I'm glad I found the site, so now I do believe them.

Well the second I read about lucid dreaming, I was so excited and so happy that something like this existed. There was never a doubt in my mind , all I wanted to do was learn more about it.
      Ah good memories

If someone told me about it...well I would be absolutely fascinated with the idea. Even before learning about LD'ing I was interested in my dreams. It was veyr odd to how I actually discovereved about LD I was at howstuffworks.com and I was reading how dreaming is possible and I'm pretty sure they had a link to this site.

Of course others would not care. I told one my friends, and well she didn't really care. At all. But maybe that's because she seemed very sleptical. I dunno

Well I had dreams before where I had some control(but not really lucid) and I had some very real looking dreams before. So had someone said something about lucid dreams I would have believed it, why not? Lucid dreams are not really far from normal dreams. Half a step towards being awake and your lucid. No weird or crazy idea there.

What they should do is have it in school starting from when your young. Then you could learn stuff during nap time!

Well, yeah, a lot of people are doing it without knowing what its called, or attempting to induce it on purpose
Many uninformed people have at least had one or two LD experiences purely by 'accident'

I've met some who haven't, who after being informed, had one the next night.

If we could be bothered we could all start local school trips teaching 13/14 year olds about LDs in a similar fashion to the Gideons and Christianity. We could hand out free leaflets, and crap freebies and that.

That would be great. Perhaps organise it like a charity or something.

I'd have believed it if someone told me about it, but I had to read it in a book. It said something like "A world as real and vivid as our own, Lucid dreams are dreams where the dreamer is conciously aware and able to take control of their surroundings." I was intrigued.

It would rock being considered a prophet!

If everyone knew about Lucid Dreaming, what would we all do to be different? I like doing stuff that no-one I know can.
      I guess we'd find something.

i was sceptic utill i started reading "the world of lucid dreaming"
i just had to know it's been reserched and "proven"

if everyone knew about it i guess people would take it for granted and that would suck... i think people forget to be free these days
and lucid dreaming can "wake" that up... i think it looses people up makes them imaginative and fused with determination about LDing (which eventuly is all about living )
if it would have been taken for granted i think that aspect of it would have been lost!

but i SURE DO think it's something that should be tought in schools or at least in every home...
      opinions were like kittens
      i was giving them away

Ya, if physical education is a class, then lucid dreaming should be a class.

I couldn't agree more - opening your mind to different possibilities is a lot wiser than closing yourself off to them. The first time I heard about lucid dreaming I was thinking WOW I wanna do this! Then once I heard about OBE's, AP and whatnot, same thing...WOW I wanna do this!

That is damn freaky. A while back I had a non lucid dream about that.
It was a convention of some sort and we were looked at as prophets. Interesting...

Apart from that...i don't think Lucid Dreaming will ever be as popular as people might desire. Some people aren't 'ready' for this...their brains don't have the neccessary...whats the freakin' word i'm looking for...imagination? parts? for lucid dreaming. People are built in different ways.

Also...many poeple on this sphere of rock are very supersticiuos (spelling?)...some can never OPEN thier eyes, to see...to be revolutionized...they are stuck in their own cycle of a life that could bloom if they let it.

I learned about controlling one's dreams long before I discovered Lucid Dreaming. You see, I remember that when I was 14 or such someone told me that if I looked at my hands in a dream, I would be able to control it. I thought this was intriguing. For about 3 days, before I went to bed I looked at my hands for a while and I kind of tried to make sure I would do this in my dreams. I never did. Since it was only hearsay and I was unable to do so, I dismissed it as being false, or incredibly hard.

When I discovered this site I was very very interested, and now understood why one was able to control his dreams. I wish that the world would give dreams the importance that they should have once again, but we have been educated in a world in which dreaming is dead. Hopefully someday it will be well known and the whole conception of life will be different to what it is now. More spiritual. More about evolving, about learning and becoming.
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

When I first heard of LDing from a friend (a member of this forum actually), I was VERY skeptical, since that's just the kind of person I am, and didn't believe it for a long time. Eventually, I looked at this site and I was interested but still not entirely convinced. Finally, I tried some techniques and after a time had my first semi-lucid dream. Since then, I have believed lucid dreaming was real, and started working more on dream recall and lucid techniques and stuff and have had 3 fully-lucid dreams.

I assume it would be pretty hard to convince everyone that LDing was real. I know some people would be more believing than others, but still...

      It would be cool, though

Aphius, you avatar...its so distracting, everytime im scanning a thread and you post, i have to sit and watch that girl bounce for about 5 mins...I HAVE TO!

Anyway...what as I going to say before I was destracted by animated breasts?
Oh yeah... I recon if LDing was really popula I would lose interest, It like when pokemon frist came out, not many people knew what it was and I thought it was cool and a bit obscure...tehn suddenly every bastard started saying "Pikachuuuu!" and I started to hate it.
Just kidding, Lucid dreaming should be for everyone. It would benefit society if it was part of popular culture.

I learned about lucid dreaming from a therapist, but my Shrink thinks I need to come in for more often evalutations since I told her about it, man I hate that woman she treats me like I'm 3

I'm just waiting for my father send me to be evaluated at a mental hospital(your parents can have u evalutated for 24 hours). I would probbably end up getting locked in their because I would become extremley violent and angry, man I get angry at the though

My wonderful father would do it to, hes threatened to throw me out of the house plenty of times if I do drugs and he catches me. So I quit until college

I agree, if pe is a class then Ld should be a class, although you cant really teach anyone more than a year, even if you include history ect (like how the ancient greeks had buildings that were ment for "dreaming" even though they were also for healing and 'conecting with the gods'?)
