Is It Possible That Someone Can't LD??

Its just that I don't think I can. Ive tried forever. Yesterday I was so determined I stayed in an SP state for 4 hours. I maybe saw hallucinations. But I don't think they were. What I saw was more like a semi-clear daydream. Everything was black but I saw the picture in my head. Not behind my eyelids. It was no different than reading a book to me and seeing the scene in my mind. So it wasn't really hallucinations. I maybe heard something, but then again I don't think I did. Im taking the day off today, not even going to think about it. But Im starting to believe that I can't.

Don't ever give up. I had been trying (literally) for YEARS before I had my first LD.. and I STILL haven't had another since then either. Do I let it get me down? Hell no.

We're the "instant gratification generation" if we can't have it immediately we give up even trying. Some things are worth waiting for & I believe LD'ing is one of those things. No matter how long it takes it will totally be worth while.

There's somebody's sig (I never remember who, dagnabbit) that quotes a Chinese proverb about something like "the urge to quit is greatest just before we achieve success" or something to that effect. Keep that in mind.

He's right (Phydeaux and pj). Maybe you should re-evaluate your methods tho; try something new? After some time off.

thats good never give up, what you should do is take a cold shower around 5am, it works very well, at least 50% of the time or try deild or fild. just dont expect it wont happen, if you think it wont work it wont, if you think you will you will.

Maybe WILD isn't for you? I've nearly perfected my personalized DILD. With proper motivation, a consistent sleep schedule, and a reliable alarm, I can lucid dream whatever night I plan to (usually on weekends)... But that took time. Months. Seasons. You've been on this site for what, a few weeks? And you've only been trying WILD? WILD is very hard for some (... Me.), while it is the only way to lucid dream for others. Perhaps you're a DILD kind of person?

Branch out. If WILD doesn't work for you to the point you get discouraged... Try a different technique!

Well I have a feeling that Wild is going to be it. Becuase I can get into an SP state at will. I have never DILDed in my life, usually people have done it without realizing it before. And whenever I try FILD I get too tired to keep my fingers moving and it just keeps me awake. I think with a little more practice, I will be able to WILD. But I am definitely taking tonight off.

Not trying DILD because you've never DILDed before? That's a lame excuse. That's like me saying I'm not going to try WILD because I've never WILDed before...

Anyway, do whatever fits you best. Just remember to keep your recall up, and reality check every time you wake up, even if you don't care for DILDs... Because what happens if you WILD, and then lose it to a false awakening because you don't reality check?

That's my advice. And you will improve, no matter what technique you do. It just takes patience (if only we knew how much!). But you will succeed. It is inevitable!

Thank you. You have helped. I guess Im just really tired from my lack of sleep yesterday so in turn made me semi-depressed. Ill be back to my normal chipper cant-wait-to-LD self tomorrow. And I WILL LD tomorrow....somehow. But yeah, thanks!

Give the WILDing attemps a break for a few days, and just keep up with your dream journal and reality checks. I think maybe you are just wanting it too much, and trying too hard. Perhaps if you give it a break for a few, it will be easier to achieve. Or maybe you will DILD right when you give up

Hi and no I don't believe there is such a thing. U just need to tailor Ur own method to have them. The methods in the tutorials are the base but U'll have to modify them to suit the way Ur mind works. To make U feel a little better...I also had my doubts that I can't LD because I may have ADD. And that means I can't focus on anything for long or at all. But it means I'll have to have multiple methods to have LDs not just one and it needs to keep changing to maintain freshness or my mind will reject it. My quest to have them every night still stands....

I've done that. My first decent LD was a DILD during a three day break from trying.

I'd agree that you should start looking into the techniques that help you with DILD. Granted, I've been doing DILD for a long time, but it took me almost two years after learning WILD was even possible, before having one. Do you have really weird, surreal dreams? If so, DILD is definitely something you should start trying to develop. Even if you don't, you can try to develop MILD, which is another method of DILD, and I think that even that would be easier than trying to strictly go for WILD.

MILD I think may not involve a reed or sentence U have to repeat over and over again or I got it wrong ....dosen't work for me. I now use mainly an activity that I did or going to do the next day or near future that leads to an RC...play it as many times in my mind as I can while falling asleep. Maybe that would be a better way to MILD?....

You should really start off with DILD, its the easiest to do, plus youll get experience of LDing before you move onto harder stuff like WILD. You could become Lucid from a WILD and not realize your having a lucid because you have no experience!
It is impossible to live in the past, difficult to live in the present and a waste to live in the future.

It's all right but have you ever tought that maybe you're trying TOO hard?
That's probably true. I remember that I was trying too hard at first too, and I decided to just take a short break. That same night I had my first long DILD.

Also, if you want to take a break from WILDing, I came up with a sort of variation of WBTB that might be of some help: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=41644

With that attitude, you're crippling yourself.

Take a step back, perhaps try a different approach and relax.
