      That "Vivid" feeling...

I've never experienced that vivid feeling I've seen described on thesee boards while Lucid Dreaming. I've only had two so far, but it feels the same as a normal dream to me, and not really "real".

This is kind of an odd question, but is this because possibly my brain is tricking me into thinking I'm EDIT lucid EDIT dreaming? Am I thinking too hard about that?

For me, vividness means more than bright colors and sharpness. It's also about living in the moment. Are you aware of the subtle impulses that your brain creates? The sound of your breathing? The temperature of your feet? The feel of your skin, and the textures around you? Concentrate of that periodically, if not all the time, throughout your dream.

How do you know if you are lucid, or faking lucid? Set a goal beforehand. If you try and complete it, and do not become obsessed with the obstacles, then you have high lucidity. If you are like me a few days ago, when I "became lucid" and spent the whole time flying around as a firefly 'for fun,' when I had planned to go to the beach... You can guess I wasn't really lucid.

Your best bet is to set two goals: stabilize (immerse your senses and wake your logical mind), and your personal goal. Even if you are 'fake lucid,' if you can get that first half part of your routine, chances are it will make you 'real lucid.'

Right now I really think I can explain that vivid feeling given my current state.

GAWD DAYUM! O.o "It looks just like real life" "Except More?" "Oh Look at the details on that leaf" "Oh hey look there are cracks in the cement how realistic" "Hey the door creaks when I open it" "Did someone turn the colors up?"

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's had a 'fake lucid' or I'm not just over analyzing it. One thing, tho, to 'stabilize' yourself, do you suggest trying a RC or should I concentrate on things like you mentioned. Thanks for the helpful response

for me vivid is just remembering the dream clearly and everything looking like real life. In my LDs things look the same as in real life. Some weird things can happen that make it look more than real though. Like explosions are awesome.. and music can sound better. And I always have this awesome "floaty" feeling when I'm lding. Anyone else get this feeling?

RCs will help to stabilize the dream, but also take a look around the dreamscape, feel objects, look at details, etc. Basically, you are making sure your mind fully grasps the fact the you are indeed dreaming.

To put it simply, the more aware you are in a dream the more lucid it is. So you might not only be aware of what you are seeing and hearing etc, but also aware of what you want to accomplish in your lucid dream. At times I am even aware of my body lying in the bed as I'm dreaming, although it's hard to stay asleep then.

Yeah there are various tips to increase vividness and clarity - examining scenarios or objects in the dream, small things at a time allow you mind to build the scene and make things more realistic.

I've only had one ld, but I felt a sort of floaty feeling as well. I think thats part of the reason I knew I was dreaming before I opened my eyes. (I was in my bed, dreaming.)
