It's all in your head. Do not think you're going to have a nightmare every time you try lucid dreaming!. One of the reasons we want to lucid dream is to defeat nightmares. Once you're lucid in a dream, the first thought that should pop into your head is " From this point forward, I'm lucid in my dream, therefore my real body is laying in bed and nothing can hurt me."

That's the line I use all the time when I become lucid in a dream, it actually increases my chances of having much control over my dream. Because of that line, if I wanted to shoot myself with a pistol, the bullet cannot hurt me... The only thing that can hurt you in a dream is yourself [You can try, but lets not think about the impossible]

If I wanted to shoot the fair with jason voorhees I'd be honored to do it, but lets just say he's not going to win this battle Cause I'm lucid baby!!!

Hint for you: If you indeed get lucid tonight(which I hope you do), don't think about anything that might frighten you or you might have the chances of entering a nightmare[Depends on your dream control abilities] But if you get lucid and find that you're in the middle of a nightmare, "don't run!"..... face it how it is. Before you do face that nightmare, just remember the line I gave you or you can create your very own. " From this point forward, I'm lucid in my dream, therefore my real body is laying in bed and nothing can hurt me."

I hope you get this nightmare problem over with just like I did once I found out I could control my dreams [lol how about in my next lucid I make freddy kruegger be my messenger of some sort off for a change lol] Who said he can't be?

If you get a lucid nightmare just kill the damn thing! If you're lucid, it's alot easier to face whatever you are afraid of.
Jen was 13 years old. A fairly normal girl. She spent a lot of time online.
One day, she made a new friend. He liked the same bands, worried about the same subjects.
They decided to meet at the local mall. She went. So did he.
Only he wasn't in junior high.
HE WAS A 1500 LB GRIZZLY BEAR.
1 in 5 children online get eaten by wild bears. And you didn't even know bears could type.

One little tip that might help is to think of what you want to do in your LD before you go to sleep. As you're laying in bed, remind yourself a number of times what it is you intend to do once you become lucid. That cuts down on dream-time (not having to think of some idea), and can prevent your mind from wandering in a direction you don't want it to go.
