Better to think of your mind as attached or detached?

      Simple question, probably complex answers.

Do you think you would be more sucessful/have better control/have more vivid dreams if you saw your dream mind (what controls and creates your dreams) and subsequently, your environment as being part of you or as a different entity entirely.

As I see it, there seem to be pros and cons to each. If you see it as part of you, you can do the "it's not the spoon that bends" type of thing but it might be harder to control because of various mental problems that tend to occur. On the other hand, when you're disconnected the only method of control is though exterior manipulation. Thats pretty much the way I see it, any thoughts?

This is a hard one to answer. A matrix-type revelation is hard to come by. Genuinely, I mean. The way I see it, if we were to authentically accept the dreamworld as our own mind (thus discovering and accepting the hidden union between our subconscious and conscious), our thoughts would be able to change scenes instantaneously.

But many cannot achieve that state of enlightenment. It's a problem with perception, really. We deem it hard to accept manipulation of our surroundings unless there was a cause. Take the following examples:

Spawning a person doesn't often work, however opening the door, turning around, or looking around the corner does. We know that people can't just *appear,* but will accept that they can pop up instantly behind a door or corner (as they seem to do sometimes in real life).

Teleporting instantaneously doesn't work often, either. Usually, people must use a catalyst, be it spinning, door opening, wall phasing, or even "map clicking." Each method has a rationalizing reason.

Even in a dream, when our conscious mind enters, so do restrictions. If we could free ourselves from all restrictions, I believe we would be mad in waking life. Our waking life is based on cause and effect. When we are lucid, we carry most of this fundamental theme into the dream world (I believe it may also be apart of our brain's wiring, making it even harder to accept anything but cause and effect). It's hard to be 'attached,' because we've never truly experienced an attatched relationship while conscious.

So I say detached, most likely.
