      dreaming of being lucid

I had been working on lucid dreaming for a while, especially after getting one, but had a really long dry spell. After a while, I stopped working on lucid dreaming as much, the only thing I did was remind myself to have reality checks right before bed, but not perform them during the day or anything else.

After a month, I eventually had a strange dream in which I was being chased down a very very long corridor. I couldn't see what was chasing me, but I knew I was running from something. I just remember wishing there was a door I could slip into to catch my breath, and the next thing you know, i come across a door on my left side and I slip in. In my dream, I knew that whatever was chasing me did not see me enter the door and went away. I also realized "holy crap... i think I may be dreaming." I explicitly remember a strange rush overcoming me as I realized i was now in a lucid dream. I got really excited and started thinking of where I wanted to go... but something went wrong because i remember being thrown into a completely different dream, in which i was not lucid.

so did I have a dream in which i dreamt i became lucid but didn't or did i actually become lucid temporarily? i'm not sure what happened.

Dreaming of being lucid, some will say is paradoxical in nature. It is, but it can happen. This is not one of those cases.

You were temporarily lucid, and lost lucidity because of the transition to a new dream scene. If the problem persists, my suggestion is to reality check whenever you encounter a real life transition, such as waking or walking into your workplace/college.

I can't say i'm speaking from too much experience. But really there is no such thing as dreaming that you are lucid. If you acknowledge the fact that you are dreaming, than you are technically lucid. The explanation for your case is just an extremely low level of lucidity that didn't last for long.
