      Alarm clock trouble

My alarm clock has the function to set two alarms. I set one for my WILD time, and one for my school time. I go to sleep and set both my alarms as usual. Apparently when the alarm wakes me up, I turn both of them off and go back to sleep. I don't remember it at all. I just wake up 15 minutes after I should have an run late getting ready for school. Honestly, I don't remember turning off my alarm in the middle of the night or anything! Any suggestions?

Either move your alarm clock further from your bed so you're more awake by the time you reach it, or buy a second alarm clock.

*Getting ready for a Dr. Cox style rant*... ok

I haaaaa-aaa-aaa-te alarm clocks. I think they are worse than a hard kick in the crotch, traffic in Newark, and that guy who tells you how to get free money from the government. I hate them so much I had to come up with a new word that's stronger than hate. I megaloath them.

      *Back to me*... ok

I would suggest waking up naturally for your WILD techniques. You hit the end of your second REM cycle sometime around 3:00 and your body is in very very light sleep. Any stimulus (like say having to go to the bathroom) will wake you up. Drink a lot of water before bed and you'll wake up in time to do your WILD and you won't have to shut off an alarm.

Sometimes the body won't be able to WILD because it is just too tired, so water allows you the full night sleep that you need because the alarm won't wake you up, and don't worry, your bladder can hold it all through the night.

Thanks ninja. I hate alarm clocks too. Mine plays that "morning" song, not sure what it's called, but really loud with solid hard tones.

Anyway, I have to set an alarm or else I'll be late for school. I just won't wake up. And if I do, I'll stay in bed. I'll try the water thing, though I'll have to get up to go to the bathroom. Sorry, it seems I always have an "excuse" to suggestions, but I can hold my bladder for a long time. I usually only go once a day.

You'll want to go in the middle of the night because the body has been staying still. I didn't mean ditch your alarm clock all together. I meant don't do the WILD alarm, but obviously leave the one for school. As much as I hate them I have an alarm set so that I can get to my 8:00 class.

Oh okay. If I moved it across the room I probably wouldn't wake up. Sometimes when I'm half asleep I can barely hear it, even though it's right next to me. Worth a try though.

I have done the same thing done to me before. Today I was in a hurry getting ready for sectionals. I just hit the snooze button too many times 'Just one more time' *hit snooze* 'another time' *hit snooze*. I think that I turned it off in my sleep a lot because I just wake up with out the alarm, and I find the alarm still set and I didn't hear it. Alarm clocks are evil. I would say for you to just move the alarm clock to the other side of the room, or put it on a higher volume.

How many nights a week do you WILD? Do you have a certain time you set your alarm for? It might be that youre so used to waking up at said time, that your body is ready for it and only half-conciously wakes up to turn the noise off. Try having 2-4 nights without setting your clock for your WILD time, then try again.

I like Muad's suggestion. Along with trying out different times, of course. Also, I suggest setting multiple alarms (if possible; cell phones do this), each a few minutes apart, and with varying tones.

Save your most obnoxious and loud alarm for the morning.
