It happens to me all the time. What it is your brain shifting from one demention to another. I think this is a normal thing. So don't worry about it! |

Call me Terry, if you're too lazy for my username
Yeah usually the twitch is accopanied by a feeling of a fall in your subconscious mind. (Maybe its your bodies reaction to thinking that you hit the pavement |

It's probably synaptic firing (I know that happens when you pass out, but I'm not sure about dreaming) |

I don't think there is any weird explanation like "you're brain is shifting from a dimension to another." |

I talked to some people about this and read online. It is thought that twitching or the jump feeling is caused by total body bracing & is caused by your body's trying to relax muscles that have been tight all day. I know that falling asleep on the couch can produce an awakening to sudden jerks or the 'falling into your body' feeling, maybe not going to bed in a relaxed manner can be associated with this. Im sure there are electrical misfires to your muscles, muscle spasms and so on to be responsible but im no doctor so ill only specualte. |

Periodic limb movements of sleep are intermittent jerks of the legs or arms, which occur as the individual enters slow wave sleep, and can cause arousal from sleep. Other people have episodes in which their muscles fail to be paralyzed during REM sleep, and they act out their dreams (sleepwalking). This REM behavior disorder can also be very disruptive to a normal nights' sleep. Both disorders are more common in people with Parkinson's disease, and both can be treated with drugs that treat Parkinson's, or with an anti-epileptic drug called clonanzepam. |

Once again O'nus has pulled out another great answer. Surprisingly short, tho |

In this crazy world if they don't consider you mad, then you have no confirmation of your own sanity, do you?
Imagine if this crazy world thought you were sane?! Oh my God, worst nightmare!

It generally happens to me when I'm starting to fall asleep and then I jerk back into awareness. |
