Problem when "going out of bounds"

Ok. This is my second thread. I probably shouldn't expect anything I ask here to be too wierd, so here it is.

I seemed to have honed my ability to walk through, or run through walls. At first, it was simply an experiment to see if I could do it. Sometimes I got stuck halfway through the wall, it hurt a bit, and then I woke up. It's amazing that I could actually feel every fiber of my being pushing through the wall!

Soon enough, I'm walking through them, with only a modest amount of resistance. Nowdays, I run through them unrestricted. No physical barriers constrain me when I'm lucid. If you believe you can run through walls, you will. You are no longer confined.

The problem I seem to be running into, is that at times, there is nothing on the other side. I end up in a black abyss, and wait for the next scene to form, if any. Sometimes I have to focus on creating something, but it doesn't always work like I want it to. It's strange though, since most times there is something on the other side. Why is it sometimes there is not? When this first started happening, I fully expected there to be something there, so it's not like my mind made it happen. It just didn't exist; as if I went out of bounds. One particular instance, when I went "out of bounds" moving through walls, the scene was still being created as I went through the wall.

Any advice on how to avoid, the void (not to be confused with the "Noid")?

I experienced that void last time I phased through a mirror. On the other side was complete blackness.

Maybe peek through the wall and see what's on the other side before moving all the way through it. Or you could try shoving your head through all the walls in the room to see if there is a different scene behind each one.

'know' where you are going before you go through?

or go through backwards, so you could always go back through the wall should it fail?

      just some ideas...

Problem is, you never really know how thick the wall is going to be.

UPDATE: If I am going into a building, I know there will be a room on the other side. But when I go out of a building, there is a greater chance that I will run into the void.

I got that too the 1st time I tried a mirror teleport.
I managed to back out of the void and back into the room.
I stick to door teleports now. You can always see if its worked before you step through.

I think "out of bounds" is a good description of it. Your brain must be putting a lot of work into creating these realities. If you surprise it, it defaults.

James is right. I think its important to visualise where you want to end up.
This gives you mind a chance to anticipate and create.

Wow, this void seems like an intresesting place, next time you run into the void, picture a flash light in your hand then picture a chair floating down and sit in it, then wait a moment, THEN BOOM! watch the big bang happen right in front of you!!!

EDIT: just an idea in case you run into the "Void" again, enjoy the void, i would have to say it must be rarest place in LD world.

EDITEDIT: lol thanks... now i'm interested in this Void, now i'll run into it!

I've experienced a weird 'out of bounds' type thing a few times, but it was a couple years ago. I had dreams where I was by the train track, waiting to hijack the passing train... The train was almost always empty with no conductor or passengers. I rode the train for a while until I hit a weird train station/junction. The trip didn't take too long, but when I'd go a little past the junction, I'd end up in a desert with nothing but dunes, some cacti, and the huge train I was on was merely a tiny 'toy' train. I don't remember quite what I did to get back into town and out of the desert. It reminded me of the movie 'Beetle Juice' when the couple walked out of the house and landed in this weird desert. But my dream desert wasn't at all odd... Just a synapse of nothing.

As far as walking through walls, that is a VERY useful technique especially when hiding from someone or something. I had one really freaky occurrence when I was hiding inside the walls from this person/thing that was raiding the house looking for clues of my where abouts. I thought I was safe in the walls and undetectable. The person was wearing a mask (couldn't see the face) and was looking through drawers right by the wall that I was stuck in and all of a sudden when I least expected it, it reached it's hand into the wall and pulled me out. I was scared $hitless and woke up.

WOOO! That must have creepy! I've just imagined it in my head...!!! If I was you I would have peed my pants (accidently) which would have made the person get disgusted by you and he would/she have left...! XD

[EDIT] If I ever happen to see someone looking for me, I'll remember not to stay in a wall... Actually the only way not to get caught is to know you want.. If you have doubts of your safety the person will defenitly get you, well, that's what I think... i wish we had less control of our dreams that way we wouldn't get caught in those situations XD... but still!

Haha! I was scared half to death! Or half-awake/asleep...

I haven't walked through walls in a long time though. Probably not since that time.

I hear you about the doubting your safety issue. I know that in my dreams, my own self is my enemy. Wherever I hide, my demons (nightmare creatures) know exactly where to find me. I thought one time that by jumping into the water, under a dock, I could avoid being detected by this thing that was after me. I had a doubt slip into my head and before I knew it, I saw something plummet into the water and look right at me.

That sounds so creepy, way more than the things I run away from in my non lucid dreams... I don't hide, i just run. Once I ran through ever possible scenes... loL! I was jumping over fences and stuff, under bushes... I was being run after... In real life the person would have defenitly lost me but since I was afraid of them being right behind me, they were able to keep up. Then I was in a forest and I entered some Indian looking house... You know the long houses made out of wood and stuff. Anyways, inside, it was a dead end so I tryed to hide somewhere in a corner behing some sticks and the people came in but they weren't running, they were just walking and looking and talking as they were having a tour. They never got to me, i woke up! Oh gosh that reminds me of something when i was a kid! I was in the middle of a fight with two adults with super powers. I didn't have any except for one. I was the dreamer so whenever they would be about to punch me I would just wake myself up and imediatly go back apearing two meters away and start again. They were really comfuse 'cause I thought they would be... Anyways I don't even understand how I was even able to do that...

That reminds me of something very creepy that stuck with
me for a long time. My brother is 9 years older than me and he doesn't really talk about dreams or anything anymore. When I was 6 or 7, I woke from a nightmare and I went out in the hall and saw that he was still awake so I went and talked to him about it. He said, "When that happens, don't try and go to sleep for about 10 minutes. They'll be right there waiting for you to come back." He was right. Whenever I would rouse from a nightmare, if I would fall right back to sleep I'd end up being 'transported' right back and whoever was there was waiting for me to show up again.

Oh NICE! That's where the name comes from. I hate to keep relating, but I've not had a dragon or anything... I did however have a car (weird looking Mustang) in my dream that I could summon and it would pick me up and take me away from danger. It was the only thing I could actually trust. I imagined it could respond back to me like the Trans-Am in Knight Rider, but when I spoke to the car, it had a weird static sound come from the speakers and the dash said, "voice synthesizer not ready".

Thanks DD. I am sure I'll enjoy it here a lot. I think it'll be a better fit for me than the bodybuilding supplement forums. haha!

I am not sure why I'd rather run from the demons. Whenever I would fight someone or something in the dream the character would not be all that scary, ya know? I wouldn't run from normal people in the dream unless they had something weird about them.

I had an epic series of dreams that was almost like a series/mini series. It had this compound that was neon blue in color. It had something to do with being able to wake up. The first dream I had of it...

...I was in a giant lab. It looked like a huge dome. It had LCD monitors like those at a basketball game all hung from the ceiling and projector screens around parts of the lab. It had high tech chairs with arm, torso, and leg restraints. I think the purpose of me being in there was to get vaccinated. I was restrained to the chair and in the dream, I couldn't wake up supposedly. The formula would 'send me to another place'... but the doctors/lab techs were hoping it would wake me up. The first time I tried drinking the formula... the first formula was clear. When it didn't work they had to inject it IV. The lab had been comprimised and something(s) found out about where I was and the lab was kinda 'under attack', but not severely. I think something broke the perimeter and they had less than 80 seconds to administer the vaccine to me. The needle was extremely huge and I do have a inner side that likes pain, so I went along with it. The power went out and emergency generator and lights kicked on and right as the injection was squeezed into my veins, I felt an intense rush and woke up.

In latter dreams, I'd be searching for the lab unsuccessfully. I could never find it. It reminded me of the X-Files, the way I was 'investigating'. I would talk to people about the formula and try to get my hands on it again. I was on an up escalator at mall and someone going down the opposite escalator had his hand in his pocket and was looking at me. When we were about to cross one another, he reached for a needle and syringe with the blue formula and tried stabbing me with it. I ran of course and it turned into a pursuit until I was finally cornered and tried reasoning with him. I don't remember what happened, but I think I talked him out of it.

Even if you fight them and beat them up and kill them to death, if you just have a glimpse of fright that they might still be alive they will and they'll come back... There's nothing else to do than run away where you don't see them, per exemple teleport, in a beautiful place and then just think of something else...

or I thought we could, wheneveer someone evil would come to get you, just say "Wait, I'm not ready yet, I still have to do my Dream Goal, I have to go jump on a trempoline with an elephant and then really try in your head to think that they'll say yes or "whatever, I have other things to do"... i think it would be quite funny. So anytime you get chased just stop and look at them and say "wait, I have something else to do now" Or "wait, I'm suppose to be getting something for my dad" and maybe ask for them to come... Anything, it completly changes the senario and there response. (I'm so great)

      Cool, dream by the way!

Ever try reasoning with them? Sometimes it works... but if it doesn't, be prepared to escape REAL fast. This lady who lived behind my grandma's house in the apartment looked REALLY freaky, like a witch. I had nightmares where she would sometimes run after me at really fast speeds. She had a really odd face. In the dream, I told my dad what was going on (about the fact even that I know I'm dreaming, etc) and he agreed to walk with me to try and talk with the old woman. I tried to be confident and hide my fear. I guess it didn't work. No one answered the door when we knocked. Then we walked back towards the gate and I heard a deafeningly loud "BOOM!" and I turned around to see this old, witch looking thing with a cloak trying to kill my dad. My dad was yelling, "It's pointless! Just WAKE UP! I'll be fine!"

I woke up by closing my eyes in the dream (my self-discovered exit strategy).

When I close my eyes I wake up... Maybe I'll try spinning around and saying that : Take me to the lab... I need to get into it a bit more and start googling images to try and recreate the lab/dome again and make a dream alter or something. That dream is so far into the depths of my brain.

I actually hate being chased... Or don't I? I would rather be stalked by some really hot, female assassin. That happened a couple times. I'd use some super-powers that would cause almost no damage, but it'd look powerfull and I'd let her beat me. lol. Imagine casting a huge green globe and have it disperse and explode on someone, but it causes no harm what-so-ever? I did things like that. I'd throw some fireballs at her and purposely miss and explode off someone in the background.

DC, dream characters? Sorry, I have to read up on the terms. If that's what it means then... yes, they are VERY smart.

DCs are smarter than me. If the average person only uses about 10% of his/her brain, I'm sure the DC has access to other areas of memory and knowledge that we consciously don't.
