I think its a good question. I would replace the "wrong" with "natural". I know they are both loaded words.
We naturally dream 4-6 times per night. We also naturally forget all these dreams. What is unnatural is forcing your brain to remember the dreams when it wants to forget them. It is also unnatural to trick yourself into staying conscious while you are falling asleep.
I believe it is unnatural, but I also believe it is very healthy. I also believe it is hugely beneficial.
