I'd dream. To be stuck in this reality for so long, never giving the muscles a break, never giving the mind a break, would be maddening even if I was not tired.

Perhaps that's my psysiology speaking, not allowing me to think not sleeping is possible!

      YES.

No matter what, I see sleep as a weakness and disability. Dreaming is great and all, but my main aim is, if not to not sleep, to at least sleep consciously.

I would still like the option to sleep if I wanted to though. You never know when I'll go emo and need time to pass ^^

I'm on the if I didn't need sleep, I wouldn't do it every night wagon on this one.

Sleep helps sometimes, but really, I'd rather not have to do it every single night.

I wouldn't give up what I experience in my dreams for anything. If I could, I'd easily give up the waking world instead. But having said that, I actually sleep very little as it is. On work nights I hardly ever get more than four hours. A lot of time only two or three. Then I'll take about a two to three hour nap after work. But I catch up on my days off.

If you had the choice between a: not requiring any sleep and b: continuing with your current routine (i.e. requiring rest to function 'normally' with the bonus of lucid dreams) which would it be? obviously option a: is not quite possible at the moment, but please expand your imagination.

despite my love of sleep and the lucid experiences I have been through, I would much rather be able to function a full 24 hours and would discard sleep altogether if I could (hell, I've tried enough times). even discovering lucid dreaming, I still feel as though my time is wasted sleeping - but let's face it, we all make the most of our sleep/dreams this way so I should be thankful.

i would be interested to know what you people think.

EDIT: I am not sure if this thread is better suited to the sleep & health section?
To be honest, it depends if your brain sorts itself out or not. Apparently your brain sorts everything you've learnt through the day, and you become more efficient. I'd take the chance to not need sleep only if your brain starts magically working by itself in the night, mainly because I'd be speaking to people in different time zones, and taking more time to train on Stepmania and games and stuff. Because of the fact I'd know everyone was in bed, I'd be free to play the games I have. Basically, I like talking to my friends more than anything and that's why I'd probably take the chance to not require sleep.

I would choose the option to not need sleep mainly because sometimes I'll get so into a project that it is hard to stop, even if I've already gone 48 hours without sleep. Currently I only stop when I get like that because I can no longer function well enough to continue.

That said, however, I'd still sleep nearly every night just because I so enjoy sleep. It is like a little vacation every night! I like to dream, lucid or not, and I like to see what things occupy my mind in that misty time right as I fall asleep. Plus LDing has helped me deal with a lot of issues I would have struggled to come to terms with without it.

A continuous stream of awakeness with no distinct awareness of the transition from day 1 to day 2, and the likelihood that this extra time shall result in me being alone, then no thanks. Furthermore, I have plenty of time to do what I wish to as it is. Essentially, I stick by this: without contrasts, one fails to appreciate the quality of something. Without sleep, I believe that I'd fail to appreciate wakefulness. Moreover, dreaming seems to give me great insight into my own mind. Thus, I'd remain as I am.

Yeah, I feel pretty much the same way, I'd give up making sleep necessary but I'd still like to have the option of being able to sleep. As sort of a mental break when you're bored and just need a break, but as is sleep takes up way too much of our lives. However, this way you could still LD. I'd still probably sleep at least once every couple of days, but that would dramatically increase the time wasted asleep. What would be even better is if they could make it so you can dream the whole time you're asleep and always remember everything that happened. Then you're not wasting time asleep and I'd opt not to give up sleep.
